Dawn of Power
Prologue In the Dawn of Power where The Immortals ruled all within the five lands, peace and prosperity rained. The Immortals sent their chosen to search in every home and in every family to find any child with magical ability. For as long as the Immortals have been influencing the land children have left their families and have entered into the service of the Immortals and became their chosen. Not everyone, however, wanted to do the bidding of creatures they knew in their hearts to be evil. Those that run from the Immortals are called rebels. They suspect the truth and need to learn to protect themselves by using their magic. Long ago a seer foresaw that a girl would be born and in this girl the fate of the lands would lie. She would be born under the full moon on a starless night when the Immortals would be at their strongest and the lands needed her most. Tonight a girl was born in a small farm village this girl would soon be known as The Light! * * * Sixteen years later Taniea was in the fields working hard to plant the new crop of the season, a task that she has done many times before. Today she thought was different she wasn't sure why but somehow she knew that today her life was about to change. Her family was in the habit of giving aid to any wayward traveler that need help or a good meal. Taniea saw a woman stumbling down the path to her house, the woman looked to be hurt and was in terrible trouble. Taniea ran to her house to get her mothers help. By the time she reached her mother the woman was almost to their front door. Her mother ran outside and helped the woman in and sat her down. "Taniea hurry and bring water and a clean rag. This woman is badly injured." At this the woman lost consciousness. Many hours later the woman woke again and saw Taniea standing looking very curious at her. The stranger bolted upright startled but quickly regained her cool. "Hello, my name is Diara what is yours?" she asked as if nothing had happened. The girl hesitated and answered shyly "my name is Taniea." "Taniea, such a beautiful name, I must thank you for tending me." Diara looked at her and wasnt sure why but knew that she had nothing to fear from this girl so she thought it best to be honest. "I am afraid that I may bring you and your family harm." Taniea looked puzzled. "Why would you bring us harm?" Diara looked thoughtful and sighed, her response was simple but explained everything. "I am a rebel." At this Taniea gasped and rushed to shut the door to her room. "I will not turn you away or tell your secret, you can stay here as long as you wish" Taniea said. Diara was grateful and told Taniea that she would only stay for a day or two until she had regained all of her strength and could leave. The following day Taniea was again out in the field but this time she wasn't working she was climbing a tree, one of her favorite things to do whenever she got a chance. Diara was watching her thoughtfully from the bedroom window. Taniea continued to climb higher and higher until she stepped on a thin branch and started to fall. She was desperately trying to grab on to something, anything to break her fall. She kept falling but it seemed to be taking forever. Diara watched in horror, she lifted her arm so that she could soften the earth to break her fall but before she could do anything she saw to her amazement that Taniea was floating inches from the ground. Taniea too was dumbfounded and before she could make sense of anything she dropped the final few inches and hit the ground. Diara wasn't the only person that saw this, there was another, a man that happened to be riding a cart past the house. Unfortunately this was no ordinary man, this was one of the Chosen. As Taniea walked into the house she saw this man sitting on a chair speaking with her mother. The man greeted her and introduced himself as Liem. She was unsure of how to respond but did her best to be polite. He related the story of what he saw and told her that it was time for her to take her place among the Chosen. "No" she cried, "I don't want to leave my mother, my home, no, I cant!" The man smiled but was firm in his answer "I am sorry girl, but you have no choice in the matter, you must come with me!" Taniea felt an invisible force block her way as she tried to leave the room the only thing she could see was the man holding up his palm. On his palm she noticed that there was a strange symbol on it, a triangle pointed toward the sky with a line at the top third of it. She was screaming "NO! NO! NO! I refuse to go." As she continued to try and push her way out of the room she felt her anger rising and started to feel the earth shake. The man look startled and lost his concentration and allowed Taniea to break away into the other room.
