Inside the gates by 'MissRose'

They guard the gates
With chains, locks
And snarling rottweilers.

They cover the pain
With smiles, laughs
And friendly conversations

Fear does not consume them.
It is the love
That burned pure charcoal hate.

So crack it open
Just like an egg shell.

See the charcoal crumble
And the gates fall
See the chains unwind
And the locks unlock
Watch the rottweilers cower
As the blood pours out.
Cascading down
Like an avalanche.

It's what you wanted.
Isn't it?

So crack it open.
Watch it pour.
No.
You can't handle the truth.

An interesting piece - the added insight from your own comment gave me some cause to re-evaluate the ending :)

Of course as we get older and have seen our own children enter and pass through the teen years it is useful to think back to our own disputes with our parents....... When we married it was on a 3 day licence and no one in either family was told until later - saved so much aggro, hehe. Voted

haha thank you so much!! I really appreciate it :)
it was actually... more like a view of teens trying to hide things from their parents. Hiding all the pain & damage the parents had done, & then the parents try to figure out& be a part of a world that the teen learnt to shut them out of. You realise it's just too much for them and in the end as much as they want to see it and be a part of it, the teen realises it'd hurt them too much.

& it is a total pleasure to read your work!! That poem was pretty brilliant :)

Oh, this is so sad and deep... I love it! ;) Keep up the amazing writing, and thanks for the comment, too.

Can I ask what inspired this beautiful piece? My immediate thought was 'school,' but, heh, they haven't quite got the rottweilers yet ^^
