The Power of Friends

Friends, oh happy friends

How many of us have them?

The ones who make us laugh

The ones who make life alright

How many of us have them?

How many of them do we have?

Does it matter how many we have?

Or is one enough?

Truth is, it doesn’t matter

One can be enough

Many can be even better

Number doesn’t matter

I sit in my room alone at night

Crying because I feel alone

No one understands me

No one ever will

The dark of the night closes in on me

My head is spinning out of control

Behind closed doors and locked windows

Those voices in my head won’t stop

But it’s as if God hears your pleas

And gives you friends to help

The power of friends is so much

That it might as well knock you down

They are like your guardian angels

Chosen just for you

They battle your inner demons

So that you can at least rest easy

In the darkest hour of silent solitude

The power of friends can seem so distant

One just needs to reach and out and call

And they will come running

It may take a while to fully grasp

How safe you are in God’s hands

When you feel troubled don’t ever forget

The true power of friends
