Tristan's POV

Sitting in the rental car outside Cafe Con Leche I began tapping my hand against the steering wheel. Impatiently, I eyed the time on the dashboard..8:30AM. If what Marco says is true I have a good half hour before Selena makes an appearance. I glanced down at my cellphone at the picture Marco sent me and seared it into my brain for memory sake. To be honest with you, I wouldn't recognize Selena if I saw her on the street. Club Mondo was basically a blur to me since I was drugged with black ice.

I allowed my mind to drift off to the incredible night I spent with Lise. I'll never forget the way her hair blanketed over me and the mischevious glint in her hazel eyes as she leaned down to stare into my face while straddling me. There will never be another that can make my heart pound against my chest and slow it down all at the same time with the amount of love and devotion Lise gives me. The softness of her skin against mine and the sexy way she panted my name as we brought one another to extreme heights caused a tightness in my pants as well as my chest.

My chest ached because I love Lise so damn much it hurts. She means everything to me and I can't picture a life without her. To this day I still don't think she understands exactly how much she truly means to me. The look of sadness in Lise's eyes as I kissed her goodbye made me want to get this thing over and done with before it even started. The somber sound of Lise whispering, "I love you Tristan. Please hurry back to me and the baby," played on constant repeat in my head.

Inhaling a deep breath, I shook my head and decided I needed to focus on the task at hand. Turning off the ignition, I grabbed the keys and figured I'd go inside the little cafe to look around. I was sitting at a table by the door drinking my coffee when I saw a vaguely familiar face walk in. My first instinct was to jump from my chair and strangle the life out of her for all the trouble she's caused, but I settled for watching her closely. She strutted up to the register to place her espresso order. The sound of her stiletto heels clicking against the linoleum floor and the way her red dress hugged every curve of her body caused people to turn and stare.

I have to admit Selena's a good looking woman, but then again telling by the way she's carrying herself I'm pretty sure she's well aware of that. She's not my type as you can see, I've only got eyes for one woman in particular who's eagerly awaiting my return. After paying for her order, Selena made a beeline for the door...towards me. I looked up just as she passed me calling out, "Evie?" The name she introduced herself to us as at the club.

Obviously since that wasn't her name, she reached out to grab the doorhandle, which caused me to fly out my seat. I gently grabbed a hold of her arm stopping her. "Evie, hey remember me from Club Mondo?"

Spinning around to face me, her chocolate brown eyes widened in surprise. Her features instantly softened and a flirtatious smile overtook her lips.

"Tristan." The way she pronounced my name sounded more like 'Trees-tan' and the sound of her voice caused me to cringe internally. Leaning forward she placed a kiss on my cheek and tugged me away from the door we were currently blocking. "What are you doing here?" Selena asked with a slight fluttering of her eyelashes. Had I been any other male, I think I would've fell into her little trap of seduction.

"I had some pack business to attend to in Spain." I answerd with a one of the many well rehearsed responses. "It's a pleasure running into you. What are you doing around here?" I questioned trying to change the topic and refocus the attention back on her. Not sensing anything out of the norm, Selena grabbed a hold of my hand leading me back to the table I was seated at. It took every ounce of my self control to not snatch my hand away from hers.

Internally I was disgusted with her actions and if it were up to me I'd kill her, but we had to expose her and the truth in order for this to end.

"I come to get coffee before work in the morning." She stated taking a seat across from me. Her english was a bit broken, which made it difficult to understand with her heavy accent. Feigning interest I asked to obtain more information about her. The more I know, the better. "Where do you work?" I leaned forward in my seat resting my elbows on the table. "What do you do for a living?" Picking up my sandwich I took a bite wanting to give her the chance to answer. I needed something to do to keep me from reaching across the table and choking her.

"I am...mmm, how do you say?" Selena paused as the side of her mouth tugged up like she were deep in thought. "Typist." She finally said with a smile. "I work in court." To say I'm truly interested to know how the hell she types with nails that long...is an understatement. Nodding my head appeciatively I responded with, "Nice." She just grinned glancing down at her watch. Maybe our little run in caused her to be late for work.

Deciding to speed this agonizing process up further, I took the plunge. " Listen, what time do you finish work? Do you want to have dinner with me tonight?" Her eyes lit up as bright as a christmas tree as the look of surprise at my sudden forwardness overtook her expression. "Six-thirty I finish work." Selena answered slowly a bit unsure. "Great, just tell me where to pick you up at eight." I suggested, hoping she'd give me her address so we could keep a closer watch on her.

With not so much as a split second hesitation, Selena whipped out a pen and scribbled down something on a napkin. "My home." She stated thrusting the napkin in my direction. I couldn't help the smile from spreading onto my lips, this seems to be going pretty smoothly. 'It'll be over in no time', I thought before another idea came to mind. "Hey, what do you say I drop you off at work?" I offered with the intent of gaining even more knowledge of who this woman is and why she'd want to ruin our lives.

Selena nodded her head and stood from the chair. "Ok, if it's not too much trouble." She answered waiting on me to finish up. I stood quickly and held the door to the cafe open for her. Leading her over to my car, I pushed the unlock button on my key and did the gentleman thing by opening up the passenger side. We drove straight for a couple blocks before Selena directed me to make a right at the next light. I could feel her gaze on me the entire time, but I feigned interest on the road ahead. Pulling up to the front of the courthouse, Selena unbuckled her seatbelt and leaned forward seductively.

Her cleavage was on full display as she leaned in my direction to whisper a quick. "Thank you Tristan." It was followed by a chaste kiss on my cheek where her lips lingered for a bit longer than they should have. "See you at eight." She smiled getting out of the car and sashaying her way up the steps. Selena allowed a glance over her shoulder and gave me a satisfied winked when confirming that I was still watching her. What was unbeknowst to Selena was that I wasn't intrigued by her movements...I was carefully calculating my next move.

Letting out a ragged breath, I pulled away from the curve and decided to go back to the hotel room. It was decided that to make things seem more believable, I couldn't very well be driving back and forth to Marco's territory. So instead, I decided to rent a room and stay at the local hotel in town. I wouldn't be able to put Lise through the agony of having to smell another female's scent on me. It wouldn't be fair to her to have to deal with that...especially not with all she had to deal with already.

Settling myself on the bed in my room, I decided to mindlink Luke to check on things back at home. "Luke, how are things at home man?" I sent our parents back home once we discovered who was behind the accusations. There really wasn't any use in them hanging around in Spain. If anything Anya could use my mom's help with the Luna duties. Instantly I received a response from my Beta. "Things are going great here, no problems on the homefront. How are you holding up? Any idea when you two are coming home?"

I spent the next twenty minutes filling Luke in on all the nitty gritty details and asked him to keep things quiet for now. Of course he would tell Anya, but that was as far as it could go. "Thank you and Anya for stepping up." I responded gratefully to my best friend for taking on new found responsibilities. "Anytime bro, we're family." Luke said. "Now handle what you need to and get your ass home so we can open up the Monhegan Moonlight."

The excitement in his tone told me everything I set in motion before leaving was approved and our waterfront restaurant was ready to go. It made me even more eager to settle this thorn in our side so that we could move forward with our lives. I decided against mindlinking Lise, I didn't want to have to explain to her in detail what occurred this morning between Selena and I and I sure as hell didn't want to tell her I was taking this woman out to dinner tonight. In this case, the less Lise knows about what's going on...the better. Now to get ready for this dreaded dinner date...
