Kane Richards Must Die! (1)

ARRIVAL

As I drew up to the secluded school building, I started to get butterflies. Everyone here already knew each other, had already become acquainted, and had their own group of friends. I would be the odd one out. The new girl with a weird accent.

Two weeks ago, my mother decided to take a very long vacation to Greece, I however did not particularly desire to accompany her, and she didn't trust me to be home alone, so she sent me to America to live with my aunt Clacy. At first I was happy to be spending six months in the big US of A until I discovered that I had to go to school. I thought back to when I first found out.

"What?!...what do you mean you've enrolled me for school? Like high school?" I fumed; I had already lived through sixteen years of the damn thing. I would be starting college now if I was back home.

"Well of course you're going to high school sweetie, it's only for six months anyhow, I wouldn't fret too much" She snorted before rolling her eyes at me. Although she still kept her British accent, there was a slight twang starting to form in her voice.
"But I'm nearly seventeen!. I thought I would be starting college?" I pouted and folded my arms.
"Well, things are different here I'm afraid. Suck it up" She smacked me on the back before leaving to go to her office.


I gave the building another once over with my eyes before sighing and pushing myself through the door. There was a small reception area, with a couple of dusty leather padded seats in the left corner and the desk on the right. A chubby brown haired woman with big glasses peeked up from her desk at my entrance before going back to her work. I walked over to the desk and cleared my throat
"Umm, hi...I'm Suranne Williams, I'm meant to be starting here today" I said, smiling nervously. I bit my lip anxiously waiting for her reply. She looked up at me and cocked her head to the side slightly.

"British huh?" She eyed me up and down curiously whilst I just carried on smiling and nodded once.
She started mumbling something that sounded like "..eat you up for breakfast" but I ignored her, and decided that my hearing was probably not as good as it used to be.

She led me down a hallway that had lockers on each side, and various doors to classes.
"Well, class has already started, and you're in..." she unfolded my timetable and squinted through her thick spectacles
"English" she confirmed before turning down yet another hallway and stopping outside a door to a class. She handed me the folded paper and sighed. "At the end of the day, come back to the reception and we'll get the rest of your details" she said, before opening the door and ushering me in. My heartbeat raced and my stomach was doing flips as the whole class turned to stare at me.

"Sorry to interrupt Mr Case, I have the new student here" She smiled at him adoringly. I frowned as I looked at her face beaming. So it was possible for her to be friendly?.

"Ahh yes Suranne am I correct?" The tall man with mousy brown hair and gray eyes smiled down at me warmly whilst handing me my books.
"Umm, yeah that's me" I murmured sheepishly. As soon as I started speaking a rush of whispers erupted around the room, and when I turned the whole class seemed to be gazing at me with expressions of curiosity, excitement and amusement.
"Well, I'll leave her in your very good capable hands then Mr Case" the reception lady announced before leaving the room looking flustered.

Mr Case placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder and led me to a desk at the far right end of the class. The boy that I would have to be sitting next to grinned at me as I approached him and I smiled back shyly before sitting down, and placing my books on the desk.

"Hey, I'm Lawrence" I heard the boy say next to me. I turned to him and smiled. Looking at him close up he was much better looking than I thought, and as he smiled back at me I could feel my face warming. He had spiky black hair and lightly tanned skin, with blue eyes, and a silver stud in his left ear. He wore a plain navy shirt and jeans, with black trainers.

Mr Case called everyone's attention and I willingly turned my head back to the front of the class but he mentioned something about Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' and I had already studied the book two years ago. I sighed and looked down at my hands, twining them absently as he spoke.

Suddenly the bell sounded and everyone bustled about gathering their things before leaving the class. Lawrence stood up next to me and smiled as I rose up off my chair.
