“Jenna why did your mom have to do this?” Jane cried. Jenna stepped from behind the mirror and looked at Jane who had now come from the bathroom. “Wow Janey I didn’t know you were going to the Grammy’s why didn’t you invite me,” she snickered, “You look perfect!” she cried. Jenna moved aside and motioned for Jane to look. Jane approached and gasped. “This, I, I.” she said unable to continue. She stared at her reflection. Jenna’s mom had again designed her dress and was it some dress. It was a wine coloured shoulder less piece that had a daring neckline and a low back. The entire dress was covered in a sort of shimmery lace that shone in the light and from the waist down was bubble like. Of course Jenna’s mom did not forget accessories, no, how could she, her shoes were five inch matching pumps and she had an intricately woven necklace and hand accessories to match and of course there was the tiara which Jenna’s mom had paid for. You heard me right, paid; they were real as far as the fresh water pearls said they were.

“See I told you,” Jenna said. She wore a fitting black dress with lace trimmings, her mother had made it. Jane stared at Jenna. It seemed odd how there dresses differed so, she felt that her friend might have had a hand in the dress making decision. She smiled as Jenna applied the last touches to her makeup and then grabbed her purse and camera. They were descending the stairs when they heard a knock. Orrin answered it. Jane smiled. Her dad had been home so often now it felt a bit unnatural seeing him around. Orrin let in two young gentlemen and then together they paused at the bottom of the steps. Jane blushed when she saw Jason.

They descended and Orrin immediately grasped Jane’s hand. Jason looked nervous. “Now children,” he said, “Remember that you must take pictures and Jason please take care of my Jane,” he said. Jason nodded quickly and then they posed for a couple of pictures. They said their goodbyes and then left. The ride to the school was smooth and quick. Jane did not know when she arrived it was only when the car stop did she notice. They stepped out and then Jason took her hand and led her to the entrance. Jenna and Drew entered first and then Jason followed. They were almost to the entrance when Jane stopped. “I don’t know if I can do this she said. Jason looked at her with concern and then held her hand tighter. “You can, we’ll do it together,” he said. She smiled at him and inhaled. “I’ll just take a few breaths and come,” she said, “you go on.” He took a long look at her and then nodded. He knew that she had had a bad experience and needed time to clear it from her mind.

She fanned her face and then took a few deep breaths while he walked ahead. “I can do this,” she said to herself, “I can do this it’s just a stupid dance.” She smiled and then walked towards the entrance. She entered and then began to walk down the steps. At the second step she stopped, everyone seemed to have looked up to see who the girl in the pretty red bubble dress was. She inhaled and then slowly descended at the bottom Jason took her arm and led her away. She smiled. Her led her past the crowd and sat her down near to the back. “Do you know that most of the school is wondering who you are?” he asked. She smiled. “Yes,” he continued. “I’m glad,” she responded, “Atleast they won’t know I was the freak who they threw stuff at,” she added grimly. He pulled her close and planted a kiss upon her lips. “Don’t you ever say that,” he said, “Let them wonder who you are for I will be looking upon my stranger for the entire night; she will never be out of my sight.” He hissed. She smirked. “Oh really,” she said. He smiled and then pulled her into a kiss again.

“Faith has a strange way of bringing people together and then making them fall apart, but if one was to find the secret of being together then maybe they won’t have to be apart,” tash07.
