Chapter Three

Violet

he short, plump, little man came back into the room only moments later. He handed the vampire a stack of papers and stood nervously waiting while they were filled out. The vampire was beautiful, there was no other way to describe him, his skin was golden and his hair was black, touching the collar of his shirt. He was wearing black jeans and a dark grey shirt that hugged a body that had to avert me eyes from. His hands move swiftly across the paper, his black eyes flashing towards me every few minutes as I watched him.

“Untie her,” muttered the vampire to the little man.]

“Of course my lord, of course,” he said, pulling keys from his pocket with clumsy movements. He unlocked my hands first but I had to hold onto the chain for balance until he had unlocked my ankles, and when he had I jerked my knee up into his groined and slammed my elbow down on his shoulder. He stumbled, falling over and landing on his side to hold himself, moaning in pain. Before I could go anywhere the vampire had me pinned to the back wall. And he was grinning.

“I have no fondness of causing pain to humans but if you don’t behave yourself; I will hurt you,” he said, his smile gone. “Now, follow me and keep up.”

I didn’t see that I had a choice in the matter since he had been across the other side of the room and I hadn’t even seen him move to pin me. I was outclassed, majorly, and I wasn’t fond of pain either. He released me and turned, stalking from the room with such graceful movements. He stepped over the man and continued out of the room. I stayed where I was. By the door he stopped and turned to face me. “Come,” he demanded. I wondered if he knew he said it like he was calling a dog.

Hesitantly, I followed.

When I reached him he told me to close my eyes and I refused until I saw the look on his face that scared me so bad I did. He took me by the upper arm and guided me down a hall.

“Why do I have to close my eyes?” I whispered.

He took so long to answer I didn’t think he would. “Because I am certain you don’t want to see what’s around you.”

“What is it?”

“Be quiet.”

“But –”

He squeezed my arm so hard I had to swallow a whimper of pain.

A door swung open and I knew we were outside and I opened my eyes. We were in a parking lot next to an old warehouse. He led me over to a black Cadillac, opening the back door and shoving me in none to gentle. He slid into the driver’s seat and took off. I curled up against the door, my bare feet on the seat, they were a little dirty, and red, bloody rings were around my ankles from the cuffs, my wrists were the same, I didn’t care if I bled on his nice leather interior. I tried the doors once but they were locked, though I don’t think I could really throw myself out of a moving car anyway. Plus, he’d only pulled over and catch me again anyway. There were no other cars on the street at this time of the night to witness it either.

I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew he was dragging me out of the car and when I was on my feet he threw a leather coat around my shoulders, it so long it almost touched the ground, though I was grateful for the extra clothing. I must have looked puzzled because he opened his mouth as if to explain, but rolled his eyes instead and took me by the arm again leading me up to a house. It was a huge, old, gothic Victorian house and it was amazing. Of course it was no time for sightseeing as he dragged me up the front steps and pushed open the front door and took off down a hall, leading me threw a series of halls that seemed like a maze. He was walking fast, I was stumbling to keep up and tripping on the bottom of the coat. And then a woman appeared at the end of the hallway and the vampire stopped in his tracks almost pulling me behind him.

“Stay close and shut up,” the vampire said. “Else you’ll regret it.”

The woman was, well she was gorgeous. She was taller than me, shoulder length dark hair framed her face, bright red lips were set in a grimace as her dark eyes came to rest on me. She was all up and down, no curves on her what so ever but beauty still radiated off of her. She had stiletto boots on over tight leather jeans with a white tank top. She stalked towards us a slow smile spreading across her lips.

“And who, is this?” she purred.
