Marshall's Stormy Happiness

The thunder went on outside as Gumball hugged his pillow tightly and wept. The thunder scared him more than when his people became zombies. A flash came from outside and white fell into Gumballs window making him let out a loud shriek. No one heard over the noise from out side and Gumball was still alone as tears came flooding down. Gumball didn’t do much crying but something about the storm raging on outside his window was the most horrific thing he could think of. He tried to think of all the things he loved doing and the friends that made him happy.

As another flash came from out side Gumball ducked under the blankets and his windows crashed open, rain soaked his carpet bringing in someone with it. Marshall stood up soaked and tired. He had been flying around when the storm took him by surprise. He had been stuck on the roof of the castle for hours and that last burst knocked him into the highest window. Marshall looked around and realized he was in the Princes room. Another flash and Marshall heard the terrified Prince let out more tears and a scream. Marshall realized Gumball didn’t know he was there and that he was scared. With a quick turn he closed the window and headed over to the Princes bed.

“Hey GB you under there?” Marshall said in a sincere voice.

Gumball sprung up in the bed surprised by the sudden voice. He wiped his tears away the best he could with one swipe and tried to talk. At first all that came out was a series of loud puffs of air.

Finally Gumball's voice came back.

“Marshall- what are you doing here?” It was quiet but you could still hear the surprise in his voice.

“Well the wind and rain knocked me into you-”

“Aughhh!” Gumball screamed as another flash of lightning blinded him and Marshall. Without knowing it he had dove into the vampires arms and on instinct Marshall had woven his arms around Gumball’s delicate shaking body.

“I’m sorry Marshall I'm just...”

“Scared of the lightning?” Marshall finished still holding the pink candy prince.

“Um yeah, I...”

“Its ok.” Marshall wrapped his arms tighter around Gumball and whispered in his ear “I'll keep you safe Gummy.” Marshall without thinking kissed the top of Gumballs head and Gumball let out a sigh pressing his hands against Marshall’s chest.

Another light flashed in the room and Gumball let out a whimper.”Marshall...”

“Don’t worry Gummy. I’m not going to leave you alone so stop being scared.”Marshall lay down and let Gumball bury his face into his shirt. As Gumball drifted into a peaceful sleep in Marshall's arms the vampire faintly whispered to his companions ear “I've always loved you.”

“...You too...” Gumball whispered. Marshall realized Gumball heard him and blushed but continued to hold what he hoped would soon be his happiness.
