Hey guys, I think we are all aware by now that I suck at updating quickly. At least a month has to go by before I even think about updating. I'm not sure why. Nevertheless, I must apologise because as much as I want to update for you guys as soon as possible, it just seems so impossible for me! So, I'm very sorry.

On another note, I had the best birthday of my life by far recently. It feels like only a few chapters ago I spoke of my last birthday. Wow, a year has already gone by and I'm still writing this story? hmm. Anyways, I spent this birthday at home with my family, but hey, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have heard all the sweet things Mum was saying to me.

Another thing: Could you all please check out Fuel To The Fire on HaamidLimbada profile? It's a joint story by the both of us and we would deeply appreciate all the comments and feedbacks. Also, check out his other stories, especially Deception. He's a really good writer!

Thank you and hope you enjoy the chapter. Please leave a comment and vote if you believe it to be worth the vote.

Chapter Seventeen ~ The Origins Of The Plan

Many, many, many years ago

It all began when Pandora and Jax were only seven years old. Sitting on the floor of a tiny room, squished in between a double bed and a single one, Pandora was colouring in a blank white piece of paper while Jax sat with his chemistry set, creating a potion or two.

"When I grow up, I'm going to be the core's best scientist," Jax boasted, evidently proud of his latest pink liquid creation. "Smell that!"

"Me too," Pandora gulped, sounding less confident as she took the flask from his hand. She always felt useless in comparison to Jax. "Mmmm, that smells like... like, green stuff."

Jax let out a hysterical laugh. "Don't be silly. You can't be a scientist. My parents told me that you have to have dark blue eyes to become a scientist and you have funny coloured eyes. It's all mixed up with yellow and purple and, whatever else there is, so you can't be a scientist."

Pandora bit her lip, her vision blurring from the formation of tears. She didn't know what to say. Why is it that Jax had his life sorted and she was still figuring it out. At this rate, when she becomes old enough, she would be a nobody.

"What will I be then? My parents never told me that," she asked, her voice wavering.

Jax noticed her tears. "You're really really strong. You'll do really really strong stuff," he comforted her with his words. By strong he meant powerful. Although Jax was very smart, his knowledge was mostly of scientific things and anything his parents told him. All other times, his actual age would show. After all, he was only seven.

Pandora wiped away her tears, smiling at him. "Yeah, I'll do something really strong!"

"Pass me a strand of your hair and you meant nature when you said green stuff, right?" he ordered, stretching out his hand and palm.

"Ew, no way!"

"Fine." Jax plucked a strand of his own hair and dropped it into the flask containing the pink liquid. Slowly the gold hair transformed into a gold rose with a gold stem, the flower just poking out of the top of the flask.

A loud bang at the front door caused the two to jump. Luckily there was no spillage of the liquid. The two stood up and made their way out of the bedroom into the kitchen, which was also a living room and a dining room.

"Who is it mummy?" Pandora asked as she and Jax stood by the bedroom door.

Both her parents were seated by the dining table having a serious conversation when the knock came at the door.
