It was morning, I think. Vincent’s arms were wrapped around me, as they usually were. It should have been a perfect feeling. I was going to have a son, Vincent was here, we had made incredible love, and we were invincible. But this morning did not feel right. It felt eerie and hot. I didn’t want to wake him, so I just looked around. Nothing was different, not really. The room was clean and neat, except for our clothes which were strung about the room. This is how I remember it last night, but something felt odd. I felt as though something had been moved or changed, but there was nothing missing that I could see.

Then I thought back to how Vincent quickly dismissed my sightings. He did it in a way that made me think there was more going on than he let out. I moved my hand to my stomach. It wasn’t huge, but there was a tiny bump there. I thought about the baby and Vincent. Then I thought about how cruelly I’ve been acting lately. This wasn’t like me at all. I shouldn’t be acting like this. Just because I’m queen of the vampires doesn’t mean I should forget where I came from. And with that thought came pain in my temples. It felt like something was clawing to get into my head. I screamed loudly, causing Vincent to jump up. And as he did, it went away.

“What? What’s wrong?” he was breathing heavily.

“My temples were hurting. It felt like something was clawing at them.” Vincent didn’t answer at first. His facial expressions changed from confused, to calm, to angry.

“Did it feel like it was coming from the outside or inside?”

“Outside,” I answered him slowly. His face was relieved for a moment, and then the anger returned.

“I had to go. I’ll be back later,” he got up and started to leave, but before he could I teleported in front of him, something I honestly forgot I could do.

“Please don’t go? Please just explain to me what’s going on, please Vincent?” I begged him. When he turned his eyes to look into mine it was a glare, but son softened.

“Okay,” he said as he picked me up and laid me down on the bed. His left arm was under my neck, while his other one was just under my left breast. He rubbed my rib soothingly with his thumb. “I guess it’s probably Easton, but someone has been fucking with our minds. I suppose it’s what’s been making us act like power-hungry vampires. I guess he figures that the people will kill us. The shield blocked everything, though. No one can hurt us mentally or physically, that includes our baby. We are now and will forever be the royal family. The clawing you felt was someone trying to temper with your memory, sight, or thoughts. I will have it taken care of immediately.” And as he explained this I grew angry as well.

“This has gone on for too long. Let’s just find and kill this bastard.” And these harsh words were not the result of someone else, no they were mine. I wanted him dead.

“That’s the plan, love.” He kissed my temples gently.

“Vincent, when is the last time you fed?” I asked him meekly.

“Yesterday, why?” As soon as I heard this I lifted up so I had better access to his neck. I kissed, licked, and nibbled on it gently. Then I looked up for him, clearly asking permission. He nodded for me to continue. I went back to his neck and slowly put my fangs in. Blood instantly filled my mouth, which caused me to moan. He moaned as well, but for another reason.

Without breaking the hold I had on his neck, he repositioned us and ripped off our clothes quickly. Vincent ran his hands down my body, never missing a sweet spot, until he pushed into my warmth. I moaned louder as he took me.

*************

“Anyone found helping Easton or any of his men will be put to death in the most convenient way. You will not have a chance to explain yourself. I do not care if he has threatened you. You will be killed.” Vincent and I listened to one of the council members’ speech.

“You know this morning?” Vincent whispered in my ear.

                “Yeah?” I answered.

“I’m sorry for just taking you like that. It was just spur of the moment. When you drink from me my blood rushes. And don’t even get me started on your moan…” he trailed off. I covered my mouth as I tried not to giggle.

“Don’t be sorry. I miss you taking me. I love drinking your blood.” I told him seductively.

“Then I’ll be sure to feed after this,” he said, hinting that he would like to take me again.

“I don’t need to drink your blood for us to make love,” I whispered in his ear.

“Then maybe we should start making love more often. I miss it. I’m going got take more time off of work too.” He kissed my cheek when he finished.

“Oww,” I said as I held my stomach.

“Is something wrong?” Vincent asked looking concerned. And with his worry his voice was loud enough for people to hear, including the speaker.

“Uh I just feel really sick,” I told him quietly.

“Excuse us, we’re very sorry, but the Queen is pregnant, and most of you know how pregnancies are,” Vincent laughed to lighten the mood as we stood up. The people laughed with him. Well, at least they were still on our side.

Vincent grabbed my hand and blinked us to our room when we were out of sight.

“I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well, love. I’m going to run some bath water for you.” Vincent kissed my lips lightly and walked into the bathroom. I lied on the bed and fell into a shallow sleep.

“Honey wake up,” I heard Vincent shaking me.

                “Huh?” I asked.

“Let’s get you into the bath.”

Vincent undressed me carefully and carried me into the bathroom, where he stripped himself. We sat into the water and Vincent washed my body as I lied back against him, falling into another sleep.
