My best friend was born
Blond hair and big eyes,
Her smile welcomed all
She was one of a kind,
No one like her.
2 years ago today,
Her family gathered
In the house of her mothers mom;
A slideshow of pictures
A storm of memories
A favorite dinner,
Barely touched,
A group of people,
Brought together for one girl.
We remembered and smiled,
We were silent and thoughtful.
17 years ago today,
A sister was born
Artistic and loud,
Creative and loving
She knew what she wanted,
No one could stand in her way.
1 year ago tday,
We skated on ice,
Dressed in our brightest,
We laughed and tried to stand tall.
An envelope with a message was left behind,
Left for a lucky someone to find.
We went to a rad diner
That lives in the past.
We remembered and smiled
We were silent and thoughtful.
17 years from today
We will gather and look back at this day, and all to come
And remember her smile, her voice
The dinner no one touched, the ones we couldn't get enough of,
The pictures we love, the girl we love.
17 years from now
We will still be together
No matter what,
No matter where,
No matter how
We will gather
To laugh
To smile
To cry
To talk
