A month ago I arrived at San Francisco and since then I have been able to get a safe and secure job as well as a place to stay. I met Clive as soon as I could, taking a taxi from the bus terminals to the fisherman's wharf. His restaurant was called Pammy's Fish and Chips, Pammy's the nickname of his wife Pamela and if it weren't for her I would be struggling with San Francisco's ridiculous rents. The cost of living in San Francisco was pretty high and when I said that $4000 won't last me a year, I was most definitely wrong. $4000 might not even last me half a year or even, a month!

I had shown Clive my cooking skills and my willingness to learn, so he agreed to give me a job with $10 on the hour. Since his wife had allowed me to stay with them and Clive had also agreed I didn't complain, I was happy enough to be able to live here. Working by the wharf gave me a calming sense of relief. To me, it represented freedom and I had broke free from the terrible things I was against and had to face at home. The first night I got to the wharf I managed to take a walk outside and that was where I broke down. But the first time in a long time they were happy tears, I was happy that my family didn't look for me, and I was happy that I had found such kind and loving people who gave me a stable job and a place to stay. However Pam had came outside as soon as she heard the door unlock so she had witnessed my crying.

Clive and Pam also knew my story, I told Pam the night that she had followed me outside and I told Clive the next morning during breakfast. Pam believed that it wasn't fair to keep it from Clive, and I did agree with her, afterall I was staying with them and keeping secrets weren't good. I loved Clive and Pam already; they were just like my grandparents but unlike my biological grandparents Pammy loved to bake and Clive loved to tell good old stories. Pam had lush graying brown hair with a chubby build, but her pies and kind gestures were to die for. She truly did everything from the heart. Clive on the other hand had fully graying dark hair but he was such a fun person to be around. He would always tell jokes to make the job interesting and he would always try to make anyone laugh. They were both such kind-hearted people, if only people like these existed at home.

"Pam, do you want me to take Rosco for a walk?" As I finished washing up the breakfast dishes, it was seven in the morning and Clive had already gone down to the bay, I to report at the restaurant at 9 A.M. the latest. Perks of staying with the bossman and doing housework. But today was a Sunday and Clive allowed me to have my Sundays off. Clive and Pam lived just a few blocks from the bay. Their house was like a cute little wooden cottage showered with beautiful plants in the garden thanks to Pam keeping them all alive and healthy! I had become aquainted with Rosco the brown siberian husky that Clive and Pam owned.

"No sweetheart, its fine. I'll take him out later, what you planning to do today sweetie?" She was on the couch knitting and so I plopped down next to her after I was finished with the dishes. My head was in her lap and she put away her knitting things to the side before her fingers went through my hair. I patted the space near my legs and Rosco jumped up and snuggled close to me.

Pam slowly moved indicating that she wanted to get up and shuffled from the couch as she began taking out baking equipments. A grin made its way onto my face, pie for dessert tonight! I patted Rosco on the head and told him to get up as I went over to Pam and began helping her take out the usual equipment.
