A/N: I stumbled over this old poem the other day and wanted to post it. I wrote and posted it on a poem website a long time ago (When I was a teenager). The website has since changed, but I was able to dig it out of the archive because they were nice enough to save them in case people like me ever came around looking for their old works. Anyways, I'm really proud of my younger self for this piece...

Today I went to Heaven

Today I went to heaven
And met an angel there
I didn't know what happen
It didn't quite seem that fair.

The angel was really nice
she help me through the day
Tolerant of all my tears
She told me it would be okay.

The angel took my hand
And we walked without delay
So I could understand what happened
How I got here, and in what way.

She told me it might hurt
And it was okay to cry
For it's hard to see your family and friends
Right after you die.

When my day started out
Everything was fine
I called up my best friend
In the morning time.

We decided to hang out
Go lay in the sun
Then later on go shopping
And have loads of fun.

The day seemed just fine
Our spirits were bright
We made plans to hang with friends
That very same night.

As the angel showed me this
More tears began to fall
I couldn't see what was amiss
I didn't understand at all.

"I don't see what I did wrong," I said
As she held me near
"I don't know what happened,"
My last thought was my worst fear.

That night when we went out
My friend decided to drive
Neither of us drank
We stayed by each other's side.

We looked out for each other
Like real friends do
We laughed and joked
We made memories too.

Neither of us realized
That would be our last time
The last time we would be together
If only there'd been a sign.

As morning grew near
we got into her car
We drove down the road
And I remember wishing on a star.

This time I wailed
And sobbed quite loud
I saw a tear in the angels eye
But she didn't make a sound.

She knew what I had wished for
On that very star
She knew it was part of my dream
For what I had worked for so hard.

I had so much going for me
In that life of mine
I had dreams to pursue
That could come true within a small time.

I'd worked my whole short life
Through blood sweat and tears
Just to make sure I caught my dreams
Only to fall away when I was so near.

As she drove down the road
We talked about our day
About how we had fun that night
We had so much to say.

We laughed and joked about it
With the music down low
But we both kept our eyes
Out on the open road.

What happened next
I didn't realize would ruin my life
Neither of us expected it
I saw my whole life flash before my eyes.

A car swerved in our lane
and hit us head on
I can't explained what happened next
My tears are poured a ton.

As I stood there with the angel
I walked up to this girl
I looked into her face
And it took me for a whirl.
