Another trailer for this story, made by Lightness, and which I am eternally grateful for, is on the sidebar :) Thanks Lightness!
Running in a darkened maze, stone gargoyles border the thin, twisting path. I follow along quickly, my breath, harsh and rapid. There's a fork in the path. Right or left? One is the way to freedom, the other, possible death. I agonize for a few minutes, and finally pick the left path. There is silence in the air, heavy and almost smothering me.
"No, no, no please don't! No, please-" A girl's frenzied pleading fills my ears, until it suddenly cuts off as quickly as it began. I shake my head, trying to rid my mind of the thoughts of that girl, who is most likely dead by now. I can't help her. None of us can.
I run quickly now, desperate to end this fear running amok inside me, choking me. That was the first scream, the first death. Eighteen more will follow. Because only one survives in this game of survival: the game of chance and the game of luck. In this game, the luck of some can lead to the destruction of others, in this convoluted labyrinth of monsters and men. This is only the first stage. The first stage of The Games of Hell.
