"Oh please mom pleaseeeee!" I followed my mom around the kitchen like a lost puppy. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I'm not about to let an awesome opportunity like this pass me by, even if it meant having to beg on my knees. A trip to England was too good to pass up.
"I don't know Peyton England is awfully far away for you to travel by yourself." I've heard that tone before. It was the "Peyton I seriously don't want you to do this" tone my mother so loves to use with me. Ugh why does my mom have to be so stubborn!
"But mom I won't be totally alone! Melody and Sydney are meeting me when I get there!" I pleaded. I really wanted to go to England. It was my goal in life! Some of the buildings there were just begging for me to take their picture.
"Cash is kind of tight right now sweetie. I don't know if we can afford to send you to England." Mom gave me a weary look but my resolve didn't falter.
"Melody and Sydney already bought the ticket. I'm paying for the hotel and all my expenses. You don't need to pay for anything!" I have a very high paying job. Mom sighed in defeat.
"Alright Peyton you can go. But you must be careful." Mom barely got her sentence out before I tackled her.
"Thank you!" I screamed all the way up the steps not bothering to care anyone in a five mile radius could probably hear me. The first thing I had to do was call my best-friends. They're going to be so happy. I grabbed a few suitcases from my closet and started throwing random articles of clothing into my bag while I called Melody. After the first three rings Melody answered her phone.
"This is Melody speaking." I rolled my eyes. Does she always have to be so formal? It gets annoying sometimes. I'm not about to let this slight annoyance get in the way of my utter joy though.
"Mel! Guess who's coming to visit you guys in England?" My words were rushed together but I know that Mel understands what I said. Someone screeched into the phone and I heard wind rush by the phone as she ran to tell Sydney.
"That's so awesome! You better hurry and get to bed your flight takes off at eight tomorrow morning." I glanced at the clock and realized it was nine at night.
"Why are you guys still up? It's like three AM over there?" I heard Sydney laugh and realized I was probably on speaker.
"We just got in from the clubs. We're heading to bed after we're done talking to you." Of course they would be out clubbing. I laughed quietly.
"Alright I should let you go then. I'll call you later." Sydney muffled her yawn in the background.
"Night! They screamed at the same time.
"Goodnight loves." I hung up the phone and slipped into my pajamas. Sleeping tonight might be more than a little interesting.
The next morning~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I "got up" at around 5:30 to get ready. okay maybe get up isn't the right phrase, I think finally decided after a night of no sleep that it was time to get ready would be more appropriate. I got in the shower for a while hoping to calm my frayed nerves. It didn't work even the hot water felt great on my skin. I can't tell you how long I stood in front of my wardrobe just staring at my clothes and trying to figure out what to wear. I guess I'll wear my yellow sun dress and matching wedges. I curled my hair and put eye-liner on and a bit of mascara. By the time I was ready it was about 7. I said my goodbyes to my family. It's going to be hard being away from them but it was totally worth it. The ride to the airport was fairly silent. I hugged mom.
"I'll be home before you know it." I can't stand seeing her sad
"Be careful hun. Try not to get lost. But most importantly have fun and don't worry about us." That's the best thing about my mom even if she doesn't exactly approve of something she is still supportive.
"By mommy," My flight was called and I waved at her one last time before boarding my plane. The view from the airplane is pretty impressive. The buildings look so tiny from up here. I watched the sky whisk by as the plane flew through the sky. I felt my eyelids get heavy and I silently fell into a much needed restful sleep.
