:: Ariana ::
Justin had somehow gotten my number. I guess when you're famous you can pretty much do or find out anything. So I woke the next morning to my phone blasting "Dance Forever" Allstar Weekend.
I groaned and picked it up, groggily pressing it to my ear. "Hello?" I grumbled.
"Ariana? It's Justin." The familiar voice said.
I sat up, rubbing at my eyes and yawning. "What time is it?" I mumbled out of habit.
"9 a.m." Justin informed me chuckling. "I called to ask you if you wanted me to go by and pick you up. I could drive us to the mall and we can start our search for Selena's present."
I chewed on my bottom lip. "Um, yeah. Sounds perfect. Do you need my address?"
"Text it to me." He told me. "I'll be there in a jiffy."
"K." I responded and we hung up. Jiffy? Who said that anymore? I shrugged and stumbled out of bed. I still wasn't used to living in California. Especially this house. It was huge. Dad was right, it was bigger than the one in Canada. There was even a pretty large pool out back. I couldn't wait to try it out.
I quickly texted Justin my address. He should be here in a jiffy. I chuckle.
I pulled a simple black t-shirt out my new closet and pulled it on, grabbing a pair of my faded skinny jeans and slipping those on as well. I stepped into my black sandals and sauntered over to my bathroom. I did the best I could to tame my wild hair. It was sticking up all over the place. I was finally able to tame it by adding a hint of gel. I brushed my teeth throuoghly and skipped downstairs, not bothering to put on makeup.
My father was sitting in the kitchen reading the newspaper and sipping coffee.
"Morning, Beautiful." He greeted me when he saw me.
"Morning, Daddy." I smiled, prying open the fridge and grabbing a jug of chocolate milk. I drank straight from it, not feeling like pouring it into a cup.
"That's all yours now." My dad chuckled.
I grinned and placed it back in the fridge after a few chugs. "Hey, dad," I said, slipping into the chair across from him. "I'm going out to the mall with a friend. We're getting a present for his...girlfriend." I choked out.
"It's good to hear you're making friends already." My dad smiled. "But you're going out with a boy?"
"He's just a friend." I sigh. "Don't worry."
Dad laughed. "It's ok. I don't worry. You're almost an adult. You're free to do whatever you want." His smile faded slightly. "As long as it's llegal."
It was my turn to laugh. "Don't worry, Daddy." I planted a kiss across his cheek just as a car honked loudly outside.
"That's probably him. Bye, Dad." I literally ran out of the house. There was a black Range Rover parked in the driveway, Justin smiling out of the driver's window.
"Aye!" He waved.
"Hey." I smiled and slipped into the passenger seat.
"How are you?" Justin asked as he pulled out my new house's driveway.
"Just dandy." I say teasingly.
He chuckled. "Dandy? No one says that anymore."
"No one says jiffy." I point out.
"I do." he laughs.
"And I say dandy."
He smirks. "You've changed, Ariana."
I raise an eyebrow. "How so?"
He shrugged. "Don't know. But it's a good kind of change." He flashes me his signature smile and my insides go crazy.
"You've changed too." I blurt. "You're much...taller."
He smirks. "Am I really?"
I nod. "Totally."
"You are right," He tells me. "I'm now taller than Selena."
My heart kinda sinks at the mention of his girlfriend. "Nice." That's all I can say. Akward silence surrounds us.
Before I know it, he parking the Range Rover in the mall's parking lot.
"Here we are." He says. "Now tell me," He gets out of the car and goes around to open the door for. "What do you think Selena would like for her 18th birthday?"
I get out of the car and he closes the door. We walk down the parking lot side-by-side toward the mall's entrance. "I don't know." I shrug. "Jewelry?"
Justin chuckles. "That's what I was thinking."
We walk into the mall and the first store I see is Forever 21. My eyes buldge. "I must go in there!" I exclaim. "Maybe I'll go ahead and buy Selena's present." I add.
Justin gives me a crooked smile. "Let's go in." I smile and we walk into Forever 21. A sales lady greets us and starts talking about the day's sales. We shake her off and head over to the clearance section. What can I say? The cheaper, the better.
Justin simply watches as I delve into the racks of clothes. I pick out a couple of cute tops, one of them, a white blouse that looked super cute, for Selena.
"Are you sure you can afford all that?" Justin laughs, breaking the silence.
I roll my eyes. "I can afford the whole mall." I inform him.
He smiles. "I know."
We check out...well, I check out. Justin didn't buy anything. We step out Forever 21 and begin to stroll the mall. I could smell the food court ahead of us. Mmm, hotdogs.
"Excuse me?" A girl's voice says. Justin and I turn to face her. She stared at Justin, her forehead crinkled.
"Are you Justin Bieber?" She asks.
Justin smiles and nods. "The very one."
The girl, her hair red and wild, squeals. "I knew it! I knew it! Mommy!! Justin Bieber's here!! Justin Bieber's here!!"
Justin's eyes widen. "Ariana?"
I look at him. "Yeah?"
"Run." He tells me. That's when I hear it. A bunch of screaming surrounds us. It's mostly girls, all of them screaming Justin's name. I feel Justin grab my arm and he pulls me through mall. We're running, girls after us. I guess this is one disadvantage of fame, huh?
We hit a dead end so we ran into some pet shop. It smelled like a zoo in there. Barking surrounds us along with birds chirping and other unfamiliar sounds. Justin pulls me behind some cage, out of breath.
"And this is what happens everyday of my life now." He sighs but there's a small smile on his face. "Not that I don't like it."
I rolled my eyes. "Ever worry that one day you'll get mobbed and kidnapped by a group of crazed fans?"
Justin laughs. "Is that so bad?"
Before I could respond, something jumps on me, licking my face.
"What the heck?" I exclaim, startled and look down. A small puppy, a husky, is playing on my lap. It's eyes are big and green and it stares back me, it's tail swinging back and forth joyfully.
"Hey, little guy." I smile and scratch it's ears. "You gave me a big scare there."
Justin bursts out laughing. "I owe him one."
I shoot him a glare and turn back to the puppy. "What's your name?"
"He can't talk." Justin points out and reaches over to pet the cute pup.
"I see you've meet Sav." A man walks up to him, scooping up the husky puppy. "He's $250 dollars if you're interested."
"He's so cute." I comment, standing too my feet.
"Selena loves Husky's." Justin says and suddenly his face lights up. "That's it!" He says. "Forget jewelry. I'll get her a puppy." He smiles at Sav. "Hey buddy. Looks like you're coming home with me today."
I smile at Justin but he's too occupied talking to the man about purchasing the puppy. I couldn't help but notice how lucky Selena was. She has an amazing boyfriend and soon enough, an amazing puppy.
