Full Moon Hunting

Saturday is supposed to be the best day of the week but with my new found purposelessness I was having a hard time being cheerful. Add that to the fact that I had horrible dreams about creepy Mark dragging me off into a cave and trying to hit me with a golf club and I was down right sour. Stupid Mark and his stupidness. Is stupidness a word? Either way, I was so not going to marry him. I meant what I had said yesterday about pandemonium in the community if word got out a hunter was slaughtering innocent people. I got up and started to head to the kitchen but I got distracted by an envelope that was obviously shoved under my door. Was it after noon? I think that people shouldn't have to deal with anything until after noon. So I ignored it and went into the kitchen grabbing some cereal and toast. Walking back into the living room with my breakfast I sighed and picked the envelope up to bring with me. Thankfully there was an old rerun of ANTM on TV and I could just daze out while I ate my food. Maybe I'll just get fat! That is a life plan right? Not that it was even really possible with our metabolism. Oh well, I guess we'll have to find a real job. I shoved those thoughts out of my head and figured that stopping these killings could be my job for now. Realizing I still hadn't opened my mysterious envelope I put my bowl and spoon on the table and wiped off my toast crumbs. FERRAH the envelope said on the front in scratchy writing. I sniffed it. Smelled like paper. That means its probably not anthraxed. You never can be to careful I don't think. I opened it and pulled out the piece of paper. While I was unfolding it another paper floated out and landed on my lap. It was a check for fifty dollars from Adam. The note said:

Ferrah,

Thank you for trying to talk to someone you found so distasteful. We appreciate your help. Please let me take you out to dinner to thank you. I'll pick you up at 7.

Adam

Oh. My. God. Dinner? With Adam? What kind of smug ass does he think he is just thinking I'd want to go out to dinner with him. Pick me up at seven my ass! I picked up my phone to call Amanda.

“WHHHHHAAAATTT?!?!” She yelled in the phone causing me some hopefully not permanent hearing loss. “OH.MY.GOD. Your going to go right? If hes half as hot as you say he is this is huge. HUGE FERRAH!”

“Its not a big deal Manda, I'm not going. I'm going to call him up and-”

“Oh your going all right missy. I don't care if I have to drive over there and get you dressed myself! Oh God! What are you going to wear?” she screeched at me.

“You think I should go?” I asked tentatively? “I mean its not like its a date or anything, its just two people who know each other going out on an unromantic dinner engagement.”

“Pffffft. You can call it whatever you want Ferr, but its a date and you better look smashing! You have a little over 7 hours to make yourself presentable, and then your going to call me, hopefully tomorrow, to tell me all about it!”

“Why hopefully tomorrow?”

“Because I'm hoping your to busy tonight to call me!” She shreeked, again disabling my hearing, while breaking into a fit of giggles.

“I'm seriously mortified that you would even suggest that!” I said and I could feel my face burning. If you blush but no one is around to see it, does it count? Nope.

“I have to go Manda. I'll call you later.” I said and then hurriedly got off the phone.

After all I only had 7ish hours to get ready, and Adam wasn't going to know what hit him. Not that I care. Really. Much.

After cleaning up my breakfast dishes I grabbed my car keys and ran to the gym. Nothing gets you ready for your day like 30 minutes on an elliptical.

After I got home and showered it was almost 2:30. I was just about to do something with my hair when I heard a knock at my door. Could whoever this was have any worse timing? I only have 4ish hours to get ready! I went and looked out the peep hole. Great. It was creepy Mark. I tied my robe tighter and opened the door plastering on my fake smile.

“Mark. How nice to see you” I said, only half sincere.

He barreled past me into my apartment and started looking around while I shut the door.

“Rude much?” I snaked out at him but he didn't seem to be paying much attention to me. He went over to the windows and looked up and down the street, then turned to me and smiled his big fake charming smile.
