. Engagement party seriously? They want me to meet her on the engagement party with my
stepsister there? I have to tell father about her. I have to tell him that I don’t want her to be my
stepsister. I will be uncomfortable for me. No way am I going to accept her as my stepsister.
Marrying someone I don’t know or like is already worst. I couldn’t handle another thing like this.
Chapter 12- Surprise…
*Trish’s POV*
We were about to go to Mr. Carter’s house but mom suddenly remembered that she has thi
s meeting with another client; so, she decided to call Mr. Carter and inform him that we will not be
able to come.
“Hey Matthew, this is Stella. I’m so sorry but I forgot that I have a meeting with Mr. Wilson today.
I don’t think Trisha and I can meet with your son.” I heard mom talking to the phone.
We are going to meet Mr. Carter’s son? Why?
“Yah that is true. We still have a lot of time for them to meet each other. Wow, an engagement party.
Sure. They can both meet there. It will be a great place for them to talk. Yes. Okay us too. Bye."
Engagement party? What engagement party? Who do I need to meet? Is there something that I
need to know?
“Mom, I don’t mean to invade your business or something but why do I have to meet Mr. Carter’s
son?”
She parked the car in front of a huge building. If I’m not mistaken this is a wedding shop.
“Trish, honey. I’m so sorry for not telling you about this beforehand, but Mr. Carter and I had agreed
that you and his son will be a great couple; so, we decided to let you two live in his house to get to
know each other. After you guys turn eighteen, both of you will get married.”
What?!!? Marriage? I can’t marry someone I barely know.
“Mom! This is insane! I can’t marry someone I don’t know! How can you do this to me?” I shouted
furiously.
“I know that Trisha, that is why you have more than one year to get along with him and to know him
better. I’m sure you will like him. I’ve seen Mr. Carter’s son already and he is really handsome.”
Handsome? Like that’s going to make me marry him. I like Nathan. How can marry someone I
don’t love.
“No, mom, you don’t understand. I like someone else and I am not going to marry that stranger. I
don’t know him!” I argued
.
“Yes, Trish. I understand how you feel; but please do this for me. I know you might hate me for this,
but please trust me on this.” She said.
Ugh! I can’t say no to her. She is still my mother. I know that she is doing what she thinks is best for
me. Unfortunately, this is a wrong decision and I am going to prove that to her. I have more than one
year to prove it to her.
“Fine, but what if I don’t like him after one year. What if things don’t work out?” I asked.
She sighed and then she answered me.
“Well, as your mother, I can’t force you; but trust me I know that you will not decline this marriage
. Mr. Carter is looking forward to this marriage and I don’t want to fail him.” She said
.
“So this is the reason why you’re busy with the wedding magazines and wedding appointments?”
She smiled and then she shook her head.
“No, Trisha. I’m busy about Mr. Carter’s wedding. Apparently, I am helping him and Stella in their
upcoming wedding.”
Stella? Wedding?
“Wait, Stella? Mr. Carter’s getting married?”
“Yup. I have the same name as his fiancé.” She chuckled. “I know it’s a little weird but Matthew and I have been friends since I can’t remember.”
Wow, even Mr. Carter’s getting married.
“When you move in their house, you will meet Matthew’s son, his fiancé, and his fiancé’s daughter.
They will be staying there too. You will meet his son on the engagement party which is one week
from now. So, I will help you find a nice dress.” She grinned at me.
Wow, my mom is not only a good businesswoman but a woman with great fashion sense too.
