Chapter Six

Aiden-

Caleb sat across from me at a tall table. His black combat boots were casually in my face, his legs propped up on the table. I looked over the scuffed boots and my own large cup of Dr. Pepper to see him twiddling with a cigarette in his fingers.

"I don't think you're supposed to smoke in here," I mentioned.

"Says who?" he asked with a careless air.

"That sign," I said, gesturing towards the white plaque that said no pets, weapons, or smoking.

"I'm breaking all of those right now," he said.

I wasn't surprised he would have a weapon on him...."But a pet?"

"Yeah. I've got you, haven't I?" he said with yet another infamous smirk.

"Haha," I scoffed grumpily.

"Oh don't be mad, pretty boy," He said, reaching across the table casually and taking my hand.

I was shocked and pulled away quickly.

"Don't," I said quietly, feeling as if the old guy in the corner was staring at us.

He leaned back and considered my expression.

"You really do care about what other people think, don't you," He said.

It wasn't a question, it was a statement.

"A lot of people do," I defended myself.

"A lot of people do a lot of things," he said mysteriously.

"You are so frustrating! And I've only known you for one day!" I exclaimed.

"And yet, you love it." he said.

"You're intrigued because I've peaked the interest of your inner bad seed," He added.

"Full of yourself much?" I said, disgusted.

"Of course," he said, his dark eyes meeting mine.

I couldn't help but give a laugh. "You're crazy," I declared.

"Yes," He said ominously.

"So why do you.....I mean, why are you-" I tried to form my question.

"Why am I so 'bad'?" He asked it for me.

"Well, yeah," I said.

"I'm not gonna tell you," He said.

I groaned. I don't know why, but I was oh so frustrated beyond belief.

"Yet," He said.

I looked up to see him chomping into his Big Mac.

"You want information on me? You gotta earn it," He said.

Again with the mysteriousness. Who did he think he was: Batman?

"Okay," I answered simply.

But how does one earn the trust of Caleb Snider?

Only one way to find out...
