Third P.O.V

Underneath the waxing moon, the howl of a Greatwolf echoed in the night air. It vibrated, echoed and pulled, commanding others to come. It was the howl all wolves knew, a howl learned by the wild animal inside of them, it was the call to hunt. The wolves crept together like shadows dancing off the forest ground, a large gold wolf leading them through the darkness. Covering her flanks were two more wolves, not as big as the first, one a shaggy brown with light yellow eyes and the other a brown and gold wolf with amber eyes. Falling in behind the three wolves were seven more big wolves, none as big as the first save for the two in the middle, a large black wolf with silver eyes and a white wolf with green eyes. The lead gold wolf stopped, pointing her muzzle to the sky to inhale the forest air. She breathed in deeply, and let out a wolfy grin, the shreds of humanity slowly receding from her brown eyes. She let out a ferocious growl and sprang forward, her long limbs a blur. With a howl of joy, the rest of the wolves joined in, following their alpha. The ran through the dark trees, the shadows flickering off of their pelts as they tracked the sent of a herd of deer. The came to a small clearing next to a small running stream, the crystal waters splashing quietly over the rocks. Four deer were drinking from the stream, their brown pelts sliver in the moons light. The gold wolfs left ear twitched, and the pack dropped low, their haunches tightening to spring. They waited, waited for the perfect moment.

Now! Kaetlynn roared, and the pack jumped and charged the large buck on the left. Kaetlynn went of the throat, Alex the flank, Haven the back, and the rest just kept it cornered in a ring of wolves. With a geyser of blood that showered Keatlynn's head and chest fur, the bucks throat was out. The light receded from its eyes and Keatlynn howled to the moon, thanking the Ancients for the gift of flesh. Then she tore into the shoulder, the most flavorful part of the animal. The rest of the pack followed suit, their sharp teeth stained red with the crimson blood of the fallen animal. They dug in, their powerful jaws tearing the sinews. They gorged themselves, their bellies stretched taunt. They huddled together at the edge of the stream, sleeping together with the soft sounds of the forest as a lullaby to their wolf ears.

Aria's p.o.v

Sunlight streamed down through the clearing, waking me from my sleep. I stood and stretched, arching my back. I looked around and saw that everyone was up and had already shifted back to human form. I shifted too, and walked over to James. He wrapped his arm around my waist and gave me a shy kiss on the cheek.

"How was your sleep?" he asked me and he pulled me into his arms

"Fine, how was yours"

"Better with you besides me" he said cheekily

I smacked his chest and he laughed.

"Go over to Kaetlynn, ask her what you're doing in training today" said James, pushing me towards the forests edge where Kaetlynn was speaking to Haven, Rain and Bird.

"Hey Aria, took you long enough to wake up" joked Bird, her legs swinging from a pines branch. Kaetlynn turned round, and nodded her head in greeting.

"'Morning Aria. I trust you slept well" said Rain

I nodded my head and looked back to Kaetlynn.

"Umm, I was wondering what I was doing for training today?"

"You haven't talked to Rain yet about the history of the wolves, have you? Today you will work solely with Rain, and Haven, we and Alex are meeting with the Hollow Tree Pack."

Rain and Haven nodded.

"Come Aria, we have much to do"

We walked back to the cavern, and went into Rains cave, the fire from yesterday still burning bright. I stood next to a statue of a black wolf with eyes of silver, a glowing silver rune inscribed on its forehead while Rain rummaged through the shelves at the back of the room. She pulled something from the shelves, and walked over to the fire.
