I am glad to say that the next morning I heard a hurried knocking at our door. I answered the door to see the guard from last time. This time around all he could manage to say was "there...all...back." I ran to Dustin and the others and hurriedly woke them up.

"They're back" I told them. At this they jumped out of their beds and began to get dressed at high speed. We left the house and ran to the front gate. We were stunned and amazed. There they where, all six hundred and seventy-two of them, alive and well (and maybe a bit confused too). This relieved me. For now the man in the cloak could not kill us, not for now anyway. We held a celebration in honor of this great news and winning the battle in the forest. We ate, drank (water because we did not know how to make any flavored drink), sang, and danced. It went on for at least four hours before me and Dustin decided to announce our suggestion of voting on a leader, or king I guess.

"Everyone, may I please have your attention," yelled Dustin.

"Everyone, we were thinking that if we hope to survive these repeated attacks from the man in the cloak that we will have to vote on a king or queen to be our leader. He or she will have full power on decisions that affect the village but they must make good choices or he or she will be exiled or executed depending on the severity of their decisions," I informed everyone. Immediately everyone became quite upset. Shouts of "We don't want to be ruled by a king, queen, or anyone," rang out.

Then Jack got on top of a table and bellowed "Quiet, they are right. The man in the cloak is trying to kill us. He controls more than half of the people that came with us, and he has the ability to bend the evil fiends of the world to his will. His leadership may be based on evil methods but that still makes him a leader. So not only does he have an army that is vastly larger than ours but has the ability to make them work together as their leader. If we do not pick a leader of our own, no, a king of our own we will have no one to bring us together when evil knocks on our door. We would parish under a flood of death and destruction." The speech seemed to have calmed the crowed down. They seemed to realize the benefits of having a king or queen, and the consequences of not having one.

"Good, so starting tomorrow we will begin the first round of voting to decide our top four candidates, and then, two days from the first vote we will have the final vote to crown the first king or queen of our group," I yelled.

The next day the people of our village all got up early to ready themselves for the voting. They started to make their way to the middle of our village all thinking on whom they wanted to vote for. They gathered around a small raised platform waiting for me to start the voting process. "Alright, here are the rules for the first vote. No one can vote for themselves, you can only vote once, and no pressuring others by means of threats. We will be using paper we had on us to use for the vote slip. Simply write the name of the person you wish to vote for then tear the piece off and put it in the box next to where Lin is standing," I informed the crowed.

One by one people came up to the platform and casted their vote. Every vote made me nervous and the crowed seemed to be getting anxious. After the last vote was cast Lin took the box a tallied them as I recorded them. Each vote she counted off made the crowd more and more excited. Finally the last vote was counted. "I have tallied the votes and the top four are as follows, Daniel with 465 votes, Dustin with 421 votes, Lin with 401 votes, and Jack with 394," I announced. The crowed let out a cheer and applauded politely. "We will be holding the next round of voting in two days," I announced.

The next two days went by without much happening. I and the other three candidates gave some speeches and other political campaigning other than attacking the others with slander. When the day came for the second vote I, along with the others, where beyond nervous. Every one once again made their way down to the center of the village to the raised platform where they began to cast their vote for one of the four candidates. This seemed to take forever and when the time came to announce the winner I was near a nervous fit.
