The author
Carlos Monteiro, Brazilian researcher and scientist, is a disciple and follower in scientific plan of Dr. Quintiliano H. de Mesquita, which developed the myogenic theory of myocardial infarction in 1972 and several other pioneering contributions to medicine. With the decease of Dr. Mesquita in 2000 he took over as his mission to keep the memory and to defend the scientific theories of this genius in medicine, including to bring up to date the myogenic theory, in front of the current scientific knowledge.
He is president of Infarct Combat Project, an international organization that fights heart disease through information, research and education; unofficial member of the International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics (THINCS) and honorary board member of Weston A. Price Foundation, an American organization. The Foundation's quarterly journal, Wise Traditions in Food, Farming, and the Healing Arts, is dedicated to exploring the scientific validation of dietary, agricultural and medical traditions throughout the world.
In 2006, he developed the acidity theory of atherosclerosis, which gives a new explanation for the pathophysiological process of coronary artery disease, complementing the myogenic theory of myocardial infarction, developed by Quintiliano H. de Mesquita.

Preface
The aim of this book is to make a historical record of the heroic struggle of Dr. Quintiliano H. de Mesquita, through its researches for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of acute myocardial infarction, going in the opposite direction of the dominant medical system. Among other advances in medicine came to myogenic theory in 1972, that offers the best therapeutic option, perhaps the final solution to the coronary-myocardial disease which still lead the worldwide mortality.
The book also represents another attempt to break the intense boycott made by the medical-industrial complex since the launch of the myogenic theory of myocardial infarction, which was slowly turning into a taboo in conventional medicine.
Few doctors today have the courage to refer to the myogenic theory, fearing the reaction of colleagues, hospitals where they work, in academia and pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries, part of this complex.
The book tells about the suppression regarding the myogenic theory from the media that, enraptured by modern medical technology, has lost its critical side, not fulfilling its duty to inform the public about the issue and thus, through their silence and subservient compromising, becomes an accomplice of this system who wants to maintain the status quo, as the myogenic theory could jeopardize their economic achievements and prestige.
Similarly, the automatic denial regardless of solid scientific evidence that may exist, besides the complex of inferiority, envy and vanity, personal or professional, are part of the reasons for the boycott, never declared publicly but active and quiet, with the pure omission of the powerful people and of fearful or ignorant doctors, somewhat averse to read and discuss real science which only help, as submissive fellows, to impede the progress of medical science.
We do not believe in an overall conspiracy. We accept that there is skepticism from some doctors and researchers with the interest of many others to gain better knowledge in the discussion on the myogenic theory. However, apathy and conformism are contagious. It seems like in cardiology are all very happy and conveniently established with their apparently “well established theories and medicines." And so there is a delay in meeting of the medical and scientific truth for the coronary-myocardial disease. The hypocrisy and cynicism are installed, with the corruption corroding the foundations of medicine. I am not a pretentious individual. Those who know me can attest about my character. I fight with determination and with all my forces for what I believe is the correct and honest side, as is the story narrated in this book. We have no fear of reprisal. It is our truth and we are well documented, apart to be supported in freedom to give our views through the universal rights of man. Everyone has the right to write about any subject, including on medical matters, without the need to be charged with a degree in medicine. Certainly one of the predictable results will be, by those who feel impaired, the continuation of silence by seeking support for an official censure to our book, which would sound an inappropriate, dubious, questionable and even strange behavior, thereby arousing suspicions of possible conflicts of interest for such an attitude. Another possible strategy would be attacks with intimidation, disqualification, and several other dirty tricks, usually applied against dissidents when they threaten the interests of the system. However, we are ready to face these obstacles in the great hope that, in a future not too far, the medical-scientific truth ultimately will prevail, with the good doctors waking up from their lethargy and realizing that they are treating the symptoms and not the real cause of the disease.
