My Best Friend's Boyfriend

"I can't wait to go to the beach this friday." Emma said with a smile towards Zeke.

"Yeah I know, the beach is going to be the perfect place to hang out. Waves are going to be intense!" He turns to me. "Grace, you comin'?"

I shrugged. "Dunno. Maybe."

He pokes me in the side, making me wiggle away from him. "You should."

"Yeah," Emma said excitedly. "It'll be so much fun with you there with us."

"I'll try." I said, giving in.

I knew that I could go already. It's just I was trying to get away from their whole coupleness. It was really cute and sweet. Except it was Zeke with my best friend. Yeah, not exactly my idea of a perfect couple. No match made in heaven. More like hell to me. But that's just my opinion. They think they are the perfect couple. They have been together for a year after all.

How they lasted that long though, is beyond me.

They never fought, not near me anyways. Besides the fact that Emma would have told me. It's just that surely Zeke should have realized that I like him, right?

"Well, I gotta go. I forgot to ask Mrs. Abe about something." Emma said. "See you guys later."

She then leaves our table.

"The beach is going to be a whole lot better with you there." Zeke said. "Since our houses are next door I can pick you up."

"M'kay. You picking Emma up too?" I ask, knowing that he probably is. Always better to ask though.

He shakes his head. "Her sister's wedding is coming up soon and she has to go try on dresses early Friday morning. She said she'll meet us there."

We only had school four days a week. Which I was so thankful for. The rest of the time we always spent at the beach. Zeke surfs. So does Emma. Little old me either sits there in the sand sketching in my sketchbook or playing a new song I'm trying to write on my guitar. It's the same old ruitine we were used to. Honestly, I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

Zeke is the athletic one of our trio. He loves surfing, running, swimming, and tennis. He is also the theater fanatic. I am one too.

Emma is the music freak. She is obsessed with almost every type of music. She is a total Muse when it comes down to it. ((Author's note: Muse is someone who has a great deal of music knowledge)

And me, well I am just Grace. The artsy, musical, acting, hyper freak. I am a book freak too. Can't forget that.

So as unlikely as it is that we are all friends. We are. In fact. We are the best of friends. We have each others back no matter what. Something that you really can't say that much now adays. I know that I can trust them with anything.

I look over at Zeke. His dirty blonde hair is covering some of his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes, smiling as he looks at me.

Well almost everything.
