With Every Bit of Love

To my dearest Kylie,

This is my first official letter to you. I cannot tell you where I am, sadly. I miss you. I miss little Gabriella. I hope to God that you two are doing okay. Whenever times become rough, I remember that I'm fighting here for you and our daughter. How is she...how are you?

I've been training for days now. My brother is always alongside me. The nights are harsh, for you are the only thing I can think of. I'm lucky to have family in the same unit as myself. Jason is sitting beside me at this moment, writing to Mary. It seems like it has been forever since I've seen my girls, though it's only been three months. That's a long time...isn't it?

Yesterday our camp was hit by numerous bombs. One forth of our people died...including my friend, Clyde. I'd only just met him a month ago. The two of us were becoming the best of friends. He was funny, too. Had a boy that was about five. His name was Champ. Nice name for a kid, don't you think? Had a wife too, Olive. I teased him about her name, but she's a pretty woman, though not as pretty as yourself.

We've only got ten people left. Eight men, two women. I'm thankful that my brother and I were saved, even if Clyde wasn't. I'll miss him, but life has to go on. I'm sure you'd like Sandie and Danielle. Sandie's just like you, up tight and bossy. Oh, you know I'm only kidding. Danielle is hell-a-tall. Taller than me! Maybe six foot one or so.

Then there's Jason, you know how he is, protective of me. Francis has long, dark hair. Almost the same color as Gabi's. I wish you could meet him. He's a nice fella I'd say. He usually stays with me and Jason when we separate.

Martin is another one of the guys. He's not very talkative, or friendly. He's our commanding officer. He's a tough guy and he doesn't answer to anyone. I guess he's the odd one out. Not very social.

Philip is a nice guy. Hardcore, though. He's tough indeed. He got close to the bombs, got blasted, and still got up the next morning. Roscoe, Damon, Perry, and Henry are about the same as Philip. I like all of my partners, but I'd have to say I'll stick with Jason for now on.

I guess my letter is getting a bit long, huh? Well, just remember that I miss you, I love you, and tell Gabi I'll be home before she knows it.
