Chapter 39: Game Over

"No way." I squealed.

Yes, I actually squealed.

Hunter gave a lazy smile and I hugged him.

"I've always wanted to come here!" I hugged tighter so that Hunter could also wrap his arms around me.

He did end up hugging me too quite awkwardly might I add since he patted my back.

"Yeah, okay. Let's go." Hunter ushered me to walk forward instead of mesmerising the place.

"Prepare yourself Hunter, I've watched many movies. Mission Impossible. Taken. Matrix. Fight Club. Never Back Down. Karate Kid. You name it." I say proudly, "I have experience."

"Good, you'll need it." He replies as he walks on and gives his name into the reception and makes his way into the arena.

"Thank you!" I said to the receptionist and waved at her as we went past. I guess you could say I was really excited.

"Arn't there supposed to be other people here? Like other teams and stuff?" I asked Hunter curiously as I looked around the empty arena.

"No, I booked the place. It's just us. One on one." Hunter replies calmly.

"Are you trying to intimidate me?" I asked him, "I don't scare that easily Hunting. Now shoo, go hide."

"Yeah, you have to wait for the lights first." He says sounding even more calm.

"Lights?" I asked and the second I did the lights when off and my armed vest illuminated the red circle on it.

"Welcome to the ultimate Cosmic Battle Laser Tag. The battle will last until all your lives are lost and a winner comes forth and the aim is to deactivate your opponent before they deactivate you." The sound blasted through the speakers of the arena and I began creeping away as he spoke, "the battle shall start in three..."

I had found my spot.

"Two..."

I was ready.

"One."

The buzzers went off and I felt myself panic instantly.

I'm glad this was a private game, I wouldn't cope with the stress of hiding from others.

I peeked over to the side of the large wall I was hiding behind.

This is really intense.

The arena was silent. Absolutely no sound.

I'm guessing this isn't Hunters first time playing.

My heart was beating faster and faster as I held my gun like a professional, holding it down and walking like a spy.

Footstep.

I turned around immediately and held my gun up.

He wasn't there.

I turned back around hoping I'd catch him by surprise but... he wasn't there too.

I continued searching the place silently, growing extremely paranoid.

"Calm down, Tas." I whispered to myself.

"You're Tom Cruise, you can do this." I said to myself again.

"Liam Neeson. You have a particular set of skills."

"Jackie Chan, no need to be scared."

"Be fierce, like a tiger."
