The Pursuit of Perfection

It could have been so perfect

You and I

But you always wanted more

You said that there were great things

In this world

And you were determined to get them

You wanted perfection

You wanted everything in the world

For yourself

I admire you for that

Your determination, your strength

But what you want is a fantasy

It'll take some time

But you'll eventually realize

That the life you want is hollow

You think that you'll be happy

But you won't be

You'll never stop wanting more

It becomes an obsession

You have this dream of your perfect life

But it'll never come true

That kind of life may seem full

But it's just the glittering surface

Of an empty world

But I will be here

When you come back

Because love is the only true way to happiness

I will wait for you

Because I understand

That you need to take a chance and try

But when you try and try

And give up

I'll be there for you
