“Okay, yeah so if you win this game you go to semi finals which if won, sends you to the state?”

“Yeah, see you understand more football than you think.”

“Ha, not really it’s just the same for soccer. Quarterfinals, semifinals, finals.” She makes a duh face at Tim who reaches over to tussle her hair.

“Um excuse me this [gestures to her hair] did not take me 40minutes just so Tim Riggings could mess it all up.”

“Oh calm down it looks fine, actually I think the jersey is what makes it all come together.”

“Oh shut up 33, I’m only wearing this for you.”  She said pushing him gently. They go quiet for a moment before Tim breaks the silence.

“So I will see you at the game then?”

“Yes. I will be there, I’m just gonna go home eat something and I’m supposed to meet up with the girls later.”

“Party at my house afterwards right?”

“Yes Tim. I’ll be there don’t worry.”

“Cool, I better get going coach is waiting on us. See you later pretty girl.” Tim says kissing Exy’s forehead

“Umm, yeah ok. Do you think maybe we could talk after the game?”

“Talk?[Tim stopped walking] about what?”

“Just tell me we can Tim.”

“Of course, I think we need to too [smiles] Look Exy I really do need to go, but see you at the game ok?”

“wouldn’t miss it for the world 33.” Exy says as Tim smiles and places a kiss on her forhead before heading into the locker room.

It had been nearly a month since Exy’s big ditch day. Tim had convinced her to go to his football games and she had liked it. Her parents had extended their trip after her brother Jonathan was put into the next rounds towards becoming a professional soccer player. Their daily routine was still in tack and even though they really hadn’t made the whole boyfriend and girlfriend thing official people around them knew it pretty much was. They hadn’t kissed each other since she had told her brother in law during the famous meet at her place, “We’re just friends Alex, no need for the talk.” She had been meaning to ask him about it but she planned maybe after the big quarterfinal game it would be better. She wasn’t spending as much time with her friends as usual but she never let them down after school on the track. Now as she was starting to gather her things to leave back to school for the football game her phone started to ring. ‘Probably Helena wondering where I am’ she thought.

*Ring Ring.*

“Hello?”

“Exy!!”Noehmi screamed from the other line.

“What’s wrong?”

“Paulina has a 103 fever and won’t stop throwing up. We’re taking her to the hospital. Meet us there? I need help with the boys.”

“I’ll find a way to get there as soon as possible.”

“I called mom, dad said you can take his car, but to be careful.”

“Ok. I’ll be there in a bit.”

“Please hurry, I need you.”

As Exy rapidly stuffed her purse with her belongings and headed out to her father’s car, back at school they were singing the national anthem while Tim looked across the stands for Exy. Since he didn’t see her or her friends he thought she was probably getting food at the snack bar.
