On a cold night like this one, most people were cuddled in their blankets and asleep until dawn. Occasionally, I wished that I could too, but considering I haven’t been able to for over two and a half years, I knew that it was impossible. My nightmares of a certain person with red eyes; caused me to constantly wake up. Funny how someone could have such an impact on another, but tonight, I wasn’t going to let him impact me. No, no. Tonight, I was spending my time sitting on the wooden roof that Yamato made, and stared up at the moon.

On the bright side, I suppose, at least the dream wasn’t the same one as it was before. It had changed. But there wasn’t much of a change, something you’d only notice if you had the dream often, which I did, so yeah.

“Naomi?” A voice called out, startling me. The voice sounded worried, and seemed rather cautious in approaching me. “What’re you doing out here?”

I turned around to look at them, already knowing who it was. “…Naruto?” My look of shock was quickly replaced by a grin as I stared at my close friend.

“I mean, we’re on a mission, so… shouldn’t you be sleeping?” My smile faltered immediately and I turned away from Naruto.

Yeah, a mission… a mission that Yamato ordered me to not even participate in. As if I was the weak one in the group, not being able to protect anyone. A potentially dangerous mission, it made me angry just thinking about it. “Naruto, what if… what if something happens to you?” I asked after a minute or two of silence.

Naruto was quick to grab and pull me into a hug. It took a few seconds for me to react, due to shock, but eventually hugged back. “Kakashi should be here…” I told him quietly, a hint of bitterness in my voice.

“He should be here hugging you?” Naruto joked, a small smile showing on his face, while I glared up at him.

“Not what I meant.” I gritted my teeth together. “I just don’t like Yamato.”

A slight breeze blew by as Naruto sighed. “He’s just looking out for you.”

I scoffed before glancing up at the moon. “Easy for you to say, at least he still wants you to fight and participate in the team.”

“Oh, Mimi…”

The next morning, we set out and I’m pretty sure we were nearing the bridge. And as if Yamato was reading my mind, I heard, “We’re getting close.” I was happy to hear that we were close. I just wanted to be done with this mission already.

Sure enough, a bridge appeared in sight. It was a red bridge that connected two mountains together. So, it was pretty big across, but the width of the bridge from one side of railing to the other, it seemed kind of small. “So, you guys are going to fight someone on that bridge?” I asked from my spot in the middle of the team.

“We also have the forest.” Sai commented from behind me.
