Red Memories-The Mentalist
She plays with passion and loneliness
Sound leading her way
Nothing between her and the piano
Only the light of day
She sways gently in time to the music
Keys gliding under her hands
Her lifeless eyes gaze forward
Her red hair twisting in strands
The guilt and sadness drowns me
Uncontrollable images flash
They flicker through my busy head
Until it all falls, crash
The notes continue to sound
As she plays the song of Red John
The killer that gave my family pain
Whilst the rest of the world slept on
My girls had ended together
Loved and side by side
Who am I to have when time catches up?
There's no one to help me hide
She plays on with the powerful melody
Unaware of the heavy pain
I cover up all my emotion
As the guilt drives me insane
The melody becomes calm again
Reaching to an end
I blink back salty tears
And look at my blind friend
She removes her hands from the piano
Then turns round in her seat
I take a sip of my warm, bland tea
And allow our minds to meet
