I'm swimming in the smoke,

You were scared to death. Believe it or not, waking up to find an eye staring right at you was not a pleasant experience. After your breathing slowed down from being startled, you just stared right back at it.

It was just an eye. It was a golden eye. It was odd, though. It seemed familiar. At the current moment though, you couldn't have cared less about the familiarity of the eye. All that really mattered to you was that there was someone else there. You weren't alone anymore. You just hoped that this person was here to help.

Before getting too excited, you blinked a few times. Was it really even there? You could've just been imagining it. Even though you knew blinking was not exactly a good way to tell if you were hallucinating or not, it was confirmation enough for you when the eye didn't move.

It just stared at you. It just stared at your nude body for what felt like centuries. Not once did it blink. That is until you heard a thundering crash from somewhere outside the door. You saw the eye dart to right before it widened. There was no way for you to see what it was looking at because whatever it was, it wasn't on your side of the door. It looked right back at you and for some reason, it sent shivers down your spine. The thought of someone staring at you in complete silence through a keyhole just felt...uncomfortable. For a split second, you questioned if there was even a body that it belonged to but you soon realized your insanity and let go of the thought.

Of bridges I have burned.

Just as soon as it looked back at you, it was gone. You could see shadows moving through the keyhole but you had no idea of knowing what had actually happened.

You wanted so badly to yell out to whoever the eye belonged to. Just a simple 'Don't go' or something. But you knew that your voice would be soar and dry. It would just come out raspy and hoarse if there would even be a sound at all.

Sighing in defeat, you just remained there, like you had been for so long already. The crash that happened earlier scared you a bit, and you wondered what it was, but you were just done. You didn't really care. All you knew was that whatever caused the crash scared the owner of the eye enough to just leave.

So don't apologize.

Thinking that maybe you could sleep some more, you began slowly letting your eye lids drop. Of course just as you were about to drift off, there was another crash. This one was loud enough to rattle your bones. You assumed that because it was so freaking loud it, it was much closer than the previous crash.

As time went on, you realized that there was crash every minute or so. Every time you heard one, you cringed at volume.

"What the fuck is happening?"

The crashes got louder and louder. You were absolutely terrified of what was going to happen. You were unable to tell what the crashes were coming from or who was causing them, if anyone at all. All you hoped for was that it was some sort of rescue, you couldn't fucking take it anymore in that tiny room with no food or water.

There was on last inexplicably loud crash before they stopped short. You had counted 13 but you felt unsure if that was even right due to the fact that you couldn't even function properly. Taking a big gulp down your throat, you realized just how much it felt like sandpaper.

I'm losing what I don't deserve.

Looking around the room for the gazillionth time, you thought you wouldn't find anything different. Turns out, you thought wrong. From the crack under the door, you saw a flashing red colour. Not a bright red, but a dim one, with flashes of other colours you couldn't quite make out as well. This was the first time you had seen actual light since the moment you were trapped in that room. There was always a little bit of light coming from under the door, probably from a ceiling light of some sort, but never this much.
