The Hogwarts Express.
Nothing felt better than seeing the huge train parked up at platform 9 and 3/4. The hussel and bussel of panicking parents who were making sure their children had everything they needed was thrilling and just part of the process of the journey to Hogwarts, school of wizardry for young witches and wizards.
One young witch couldn't stop smiling as she stood with her two best friends. Hermione Granger was now 5th year at Hogwarts, as was the two boys standing with her, Ron Weasly and Harry Potter, yes, THE Harry Potter, the boy who survived an attack from he who shall not be named. Mrs and Mr Weasly were conversing with Hermione's parents who were both muggle, Mr Weasly could not stop asking them on the uses of a kettle.
"Could all first years please board the train!" Yelled a booming voice from the first carriage. After all the first years were safely onboard, the rest of the students climbed on after. Ron, Harry, Hermione and Ginny, Ron's younger sister found an empty carriage and took a seat.
"I wonder who's got the defense against the dark arts this year, hopefully they haven't just given into Snape!" said Ron. The Defense Against the Dark Arts job was seemingly cursed, not one teacher had lasted for over one year. Something happened that made them quit, or worse.
"Dumbledore's much too smart, he knows Potions is Snape's speciality and he would rather someone trained for the job to take over." Harry explained. Ginny nodded her head, agreeing with everything Harry said as she usually does, head over heals for him. Just as Ron was about to add another comment a dark figure passed outside the carriage door. Harry rose, popping his head out into the corridor looking after it. A tall, slender man was standing at the end, a cigar in his mouth. His brown, shaggy hair was over his face as he hung his head out of the window, smoking the cigar.
"Excuse me, no smoking in th- oh sorry, I didn't recoginize you there Professor Ranston." A woman with the sweet trolly was speaking to him, he smiled at her, nodding his head once.
"Sorry, it's been a stressful morning Naya." His voice was deep and husky, she refused his offer to throw the cigar away and hurried along the corridor towards Harry, he slipping back into the carriage telling the others what he seen.
"So he must be the Dark Arts teacher this year!" Ginny shot out, "he's quite handsome" she smiled but Harry only grunted.
After the long journey, the train came to a hault a few miles away from the school and it was empty in a matter of minutes. The first years headed down to the dock and the rest climbed into the carts which took them up to the school. Luna Lovegood, another friend of the 3 was in a cart with them.
"Hello!" her thick irish accent was obvious as she smiled at them all. They reached the gates after a short while. Smelling the scent of the Welcome Feast, they smiled at each other, ready for a new term to begin.
