Remember.

For someone whom I'll never know. This was probably the most emotional piece I have ever written in my life, and I wish I never had the inspiration for this.

REMEMBER:

Remember me, that girl you forgot,

Remember when you loved me before.

Try, because I know you do,

I am not part of the memories you’ve lost.

I know you prefer to forget me,

Forget all that’s ever happened.

Forget the songs I used to play,

Forget the love you shattered.

But remember. You owe me that much,

Remember that I made you happy once.

Remember that I used to copy your thoughts down,

Wide spaces from New York to France.

Remember, I beg of you,

Just try to remember me.

You used to see me when you shut your eyes,

Think, remember, remember all that you see.

Remember how you loved me so,

And in the next month, no more.

You ended it so abruptly, so suddenly,

And that was the end of it all.

Remember that night when you walked

Me home. After the rain, the pavements glowed.

You told me then, that it was over,

And time skidded to a lumbering slow.

Remember my hands clutching the straps

Of my bag to keep the tears in.

Remember me walking home, silently,

Remember the pain unseen.

Remember how I dropped out of your life,

To be nothing more than a memory.

Remember how I used to make you so happy,

And now I don’t even exist in your periphery.

Remember, because you need to.

Remember, for the first time in awhile.

Remember me, the girl who played for you,

On the piano, just to make you smile.

Remember how you didn’t care,

If I was alive or dead.

Remember how you’ll never know,

That I’m not just over you yet.
