What the heck is a moon pigeon?

When I first heard of this, I laughed. How could pigeons be on the moon? It turns out that this is the label that NASA put on unidentified flying objects that Apollo astronauts saw when they were in orbit or actually on the moon. As you may know, NASA has been very reluctant to attribute any strange phenomenon that astronauts report as being extraterrestrial in origin. I can understand their reluctance. They didn’t want to start a riot among the UFO enthusiasts. Seriously, it’s the way that government agencies work. They are abjectly secretive, and it’s the principle reason that conspiracy theories spring up like weeds every time some potential UFO sighting is reported.

The term ‘moon pigeon’ appeared in an official NASA report on the crisis that happened during the Apollo 10 Lunar lander’s attempt to dock back with the command module. Apollo 10 was a mission in 1969 to try out the lander and see if could function in a simulated landing and to scope out possible landing spots for the actual moon landing. The problem was in the lander’s radar unit that is used to lock onto the command module for a docking. The radar unit suddenly failed and this incident occurred as Eugene Cernan’s movie camera in the command module recorded a white object moving above the moon’s surface near the Lunar Lander. When the object disappeared, the radar unit on the lander began to function again and the docking maneuver was successful. NASA labeled this unknown object a moon pigeon and said it was caused by a reflection. This was reported on the Science Channel’s series ‘NASA’s Unexplained Files: Apollo 10 Lunar Modules Faces Catastrophe.’

Astronauts on all of NASA’s missions starting with Mercury and going through Gemini, Apollo, and the Shuttle have made UFO sightings. Keep in mind that these astronauts were mostly combat Air Force officers trained to know what is real or not real outside their aircraft or spaceship. They also had to have had good vision to be pilots in the Air Force.

Gordon Cooper was the first. He saw a glowing green object that approached his capsule on his Mercury flight in 1963. Whatever it was, it was picked up by a radar installation near Perth Australia. Gordon believed that it was an extraterrestrial vehicle, but NASA dismissed his conclusion.

Buzz Aldrin, James Lovell, Frank Borman, Scott Carpenter, and Donald Slayton are among many astronauts that have seen UFO’s

Even Neil Armstrong, the first man to step on the moon saw UFO’s on the moon.

Keep in mind that these are trained pilots and astronauts. Why do they believe that what they saw was extraterrestrial? That concerns me.

All I can say is that there must have been an entire flock of those moon pigeons flying around in space! That’s a joke!

So what did those astronauts see? That’s a good question that we’ll probably never be able to answer. NASA refuses to admit that they could be aliens trying to spy on our space program or actually trying to interfere with it. Admittedly, there is no solid evidence that any of this is happening, but to dismiss all of these UFO sightings is probably a bad idea. If aliens are trying to interfere with our efforts to explore space, we could be in for a bad time of it when we do go out into interstellar space. Think of the movie ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still.’
