My dear unforgotten friend,
Who I will always love 'til my dreadded end.
We seem to be far in distance
But this feeling with its great persistence
Will not allow my troubled mind
To forget your face, so kind.
How I do wish for our paths to soon cross
Sight of you would put my words at a loss,
For I miss you so dearly
And these words won't nearly
Express my emotional dismay
Of when we parted that very last day.
You are fresh in my dreams
And my memories it seems,
But sadly they are of what we were then
And now we are both changed, that's a given.
But one day again we will meet
And remember our time in the summer heat
Where as children we were so free
And we will cry, you and me.
Time may have passed
But our memories will last,
As we will then make new ones
And surely the laughter comes
Just as the first day we became friends.
