Chapter Eighteen

Payton’s POV

The tears ski down my face as I think about it. I shift in my seat as I hold his hand tightly. My eyes shut as I think about it.

*FLASHBACK*

My eyes jerk open as I hear the sound of someone throwing up. I look at the time, 12 in the morning. Groaning I get up and go to the bathroom, the heaving and puking sound continues. I slowly push the door open and find Lila on her knees in front of the toilet and vomiting into it. I quickly go to her side and scope back her long, brown waves out of her face. I feel her forehead and it is on fire! She stops puking for a second and I can hear her crying and body shaking.

“Sh… it’s okay! I’m here sweetie,” I say to her in a calming voice. “Mom!” I scream hoping to wake her.

“Sissy, I don’t feel so good,” she says to me as she looks up at me with her dark green eyes. Her face is white as a sheet and is covered in sweat and tears. She turns back to the toilet again and throws up.

“Mom!” I scream as I hold back the tears. Something is seriously wrong with her! I know it, I can feel it!

“Honey what is-” my mom begins but stops once she sees Lila’s condition.

“I am going call a doctor!” she says quickly as she takes off running to the phone. Lila vomiting continues until she finally stops and leans her head on the side of the toilet seat.

She releases a groan as she grabs her stomach with her hand. “It hurt!” she cries and I bite my lip to keep myself from crying too.

“I know sweetie!” I say as I rub her back.

“The doctor said it’s probably just a bug and to give it a day,” my mom pants as she stands back in the door way.

“It’s not a bug mom,” I say as I look at Lila’s poor innocent face.

“I know, let’s give it a few hours than we will take her to the ER,” my mom says as she walks over to Lila’s other side and puts her arms around her. I reach up and flush the toilet. Normally vomit makes me sick, but I know right now that I know being sick would be the wrong thing.

She looks up at my mom with teary eyes and I see a drop of blood on her lip. “Is that blood?” I ask and my mom opens her mouth looking and then gasping.
