Epilogue

Five years later

"Art!" I called, knocking on his door. "I know we're both jet-lagged, but we can't be late."

There was no response.

"Fine. I'm going in," I said, putting in my keys and barging into his room. I found him sleeping soundly on his bed, mouth wide open. I took a seat on the bed beside him. "Darcy and I did all the errands for the re-opening of the shelter this morning, while you and Pete had a great time talking and laughing at the reception desk. How come you're the one who's back in bed?"

"He told me about his gramps," Art replied, with a ruffled voice.

"How's Abram's retirement?" I asked.

"He's traveling with his friends," he said, turning to me and wrapping his arms around my waist. "Pete showed me his pictures."

"That's great," I said, patting his sleepyhead. "At least he's having fun out there. I just hope Pete will start taking his job as the resident vet of the shelter seriously."

"Go easy on him. He's on the planning stage these days," he replied.

I sighed. "Okay. But after his proposal, I'll have a talk with him."

"What else do we have on schedule this week?" he asked.

"We have to attend Love's baby shower tomorrow morning. As far as I know, that's what we have for tomorrow. I haven't seen Bridge yet, and I'm sure there's more to the list," I said.

"Okay."

I held his face. "Art, you seriously need to open your eyes and wake up."

"You still don't get it, no?" he said to me, a smile pulling up on his lips. "You have to wake me up with a kiss."

"We only have an hour. For the sake of anyone who could smell you, please take a bath," I told him, getting up to grab his towel. "We don't want Bridge to see a national headline that the prince smells."

"We've only slept for two hours this morning," Art complained.

"Go and take a bath," I said to him, throwing a towel to his face. "Clock is ticking. It's only fifty-five minutes before my graduation. You better have a good plan on how to get there on time."

"Okay." With his eyes closed, he reluctantly got up from his bed and headed to the bathroom.

I was already dressed up and ready to go, so I took the opportunity to catch some sleep myself. Collapsing on his bed, I closed my eyes. Ten minutes sounded great. We badly needed sleep with all of our schedules piling up this month.

I heard the bathroom door open. He said, "I knew you would do that. That is not fair."

"Oh, come on. Famy had to do my hair and make-up for at least an hour. You were sleeping during that time," I said, laughing. I didn't bother opening my eyes. The feeling of the bed against my back was so relaxing. "Stop staring at me and take a bath."

"I forgot my morning kiss earlier. Claiming it." He kissed me on the lips, before going back to the bathroom.

I got up, stretching my arms and legs. Picking up my favorite picture frame from his bedside table, I dusted it and carefully traced the embedded words: Art and George Forever . It was taken after the coronation event. Silly faces and arms around each other, the picture was so childish and cute. We looked so young back then.
