What do you think when you first hear this word?
Hatred, jealousy, violence or war?
It grieves me to think what lies ahead
As i write this note lying in my bed.
The present situation calls for a change
Cooling of tempers and drying of rage.
The factor which governs this devastating evil
Is perspective and outlook that needs to be ideal.
Amongst the ones who need improvement
Are we ourselves that create this predicament.
Every race deserves equal respect
To ensure that there's no unrest.
Religious bias, its prevalence still
Owing to individuals following their will.
Seeds of dissension sown by a few
Invoke meek spirits left without a clue.
The rage ignited gathers pace
And cultures,embittered souls failing to embrace.
The colours of the flag invoke pride and responsibility
Every racist is a a country's liability.
The colour of the skin does not really matter
We rather look at qualities much better.
Mutual admiration,an essential key
Respect for nations is a necessity.
As citizens of our nation, our duties are immense
Our actions, if unchecked, make situations tense.
So let us all pledge in unison
And SAY NO TO RACISM.
