I am growing weak, and the air around me is getting dense. I try to take breathes of air, but can’t. I start to panic. I grab my neck, straining my voice just to talk, “Can’t breathe, need-“I start to cough. “Jake!” I yell, before I collapse.
I see someone walking close to me. Their arms picking me up, making me feel light as a feather. “Jake, is that you?” I say, I turn around to see who my holder was. A hood that I want desperately to take off and reveal the figure behind, covered their face.
I reach up to the figures face. The figure grabs my hand and lowers it. “No, you are not ready to see me yet.”
“Who-Who are you?” I stammer. “I’m here to help, I won’t hurt you....”
“But, who are you?” I ask, not sure if I would get a straight answer.
“Lise, your protector...”
“Can you get rid of these voices I hear?” I ask, it’s worth a shot.
“No, I’m sorry but that is out of my control, I can only help guide you to defeat. If I could, I would have gotten rid of him, anyways.”
“Him, so the voice was a man.” I say feeling like I’m finally getting somewhere with my questions.
“Who is the guy that wants me to kill Jake?”
“He is a dark spirit; He wants you to kill Jake because he can’t. Dark spirits can’t kill, they can only manipulate. Jake is an angel, well, part angel; his father was a fallen angel from heaven and he breed with a human, his mother, Alice. His father passed away soon after Jake was born. It is illegal for a human and angel to mate.”
I stand there, mouth agape. Jake an angel? I can’t believe it.
Jakes mother was a very shy and timid girl. You would always see her with her nose in a book. She was always in the public library reading. She sat down and adjusted her glasses before fixing her golden hair. She opened her book and began reading.
Jakes father, Nathaniel, was sitting in the theatre room watching the streets of the human world. He longed to become one. He had always dreamed of walking on the streets, eating their food and learning how to read. He panned the screen over a building which held books for reading.
He zoomed into the building, the screen landing to the back of the large building. He noticed a young girl about a year younger than himself, sitting in a plush chair reading a book. The girl had blonde, honey colored hair and bright blue eyes. She adjusted her glasses so they were sitting properly, then she flipped the page of her book. Nathaniel had never learned to read human writing. It was forbidden by his kind. He had always wondered what secrets these books hold, and why humans were so fascinated with them.
Nathaniel was curious to see what she was reading. The book was green with a yellow flower on it. He sat back and continued to watch the girl. It was love at first sight, he was transfixed by her figure, and her aura was intoxicating his very essence. He was staring at the girl when his father walked in through the door. “Nathaniel there you are it’s almost- What are you doing!” He yelled as Nate quickly zoomed out. “You were watching a human girl weren’t you?”
“No.” he lied. His father didn’t buy it because he came up to Nate and grabbed him by the arm. “What have I repeatedly told you Nathaniel?” When Nate didn’t answer, he roared. “Never fall in love with a human girl. Never have sex with a human girl. Do not interact with a human girl!”
He pulled Nathan out of the room and charmed the door so he could not enter ever again.
“Come with me.” He pulled Nathaniel down the golden laid streets. “Father, I wish not to be an angel.” He stopped and turned Nate so he was facing him. “What did you say?” Nathan repeated it. “Now you take that back.” He yelled louder.
“No, I hate you father.” Nate was mad. He was fuming. His father pulled him over to an empty room and forced him through the doorway. Nate landed on the floor with a loud thud. His father crouched down so he was eye level with his son. “Now I want you to think about what you have done.”
“No, I will not because I believe what I have done was not bad.” He slapped Nathaniel on the side of his left cheek leaving a rough, red mark. His father slammed the door and Nathaniel was left sitting there rubbing his hurt cheek.
