Maverick

Maverick is a free spirit. He runs around in his underwear, he screams like a little girl when you creep up on him, and he never got over being afraid of the dark. His favorite food is a fried burrito at our local truckstop, girls still have cooties, and if you ask him “what’s the password?” he’ll still tell you “Rock n’ Roll.” He has the attention span of a goldfish, he may or may not have the ability to teleport, and, I swear, the boy’s gas should be converted into a power source for the next atom bomb.

I guess we share a special bond. I wanted a brother for years before he came along. I had already tolerated as much as I could take with the first two girls. I was seven when he was born. I’m eighteen now and I can’t tell you how hard it was waiting and waiting for him to finally become old enough. And by “old enough” I mean that he’s finally hit that age where we can talk, we can relate, we can be bros. Not that we didn’t before. We did everything we could. We did a lot of swinging sticks to slay Sauron’s army in our younger years.

So, yeah, there’s an age gap between us, but I can honestly say I’ve never we’ve never been closer. I love that kid. No matter what I say or do to hurt him and no matter what he does to hurt or damage what we have, I can promise you that it won’t last. We’re too close. Always have been. Always will be.

I don't know. Maybe we're weird, but Blithe, Cadence, Maverick, and I have always, for as long as I can remember, got along. I find it really strange when people tell me how much they dislike they're older brother  or younger sister or whatever. Frankly, I love my sisters and my brother. I mean, we've had our differences, but they don't come between us. Not really. And not for very long.

So there it is. I am a family man at heart. Deal with it!

p.s. I'm planning on doing one of this for all of my reoccuring characters, not just Mav, so expect more to come!
